Nokia PureView 808 purple tint issue to be fixed via SW Update

Over at Nokia’s support forums, a statement has been put up regarding the much reported purple tint issue on the the 808 PureView’s display. In fact our very own unit initially faced this problem before being replaced. The screen sporadically takes a very prominent purple tint when exposed to bright sunlight or in a very dark room.

Apple buys security firm AuthenTec for $356 million


Apple has purchased AuthenTec that offers fingerprint security on PCs and mobile devices for $356 million. The company also develops encryption technology, fingerprint sensors and identity management software. Motorola and Nextel Announce i867 Ferrari Smartphone

Motorola has announced the i867 Ferrari smartphone with Push to Talk in Brazil in partnership with Nextel. The phone’s design is inspired by the Ferrari 458 Italia and the back cover is designed to resemble the hood of the car.

IDC: Mobile Phone Market Q2 2012 – Samsung, Apple top Smartphone vendors by shipments

Samsung, Nokia and Apple are the leading Mobile vendors by shipments once again in Q2 2012, according to a report by Research Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). Mobile phone market grew 1% year over year in Q2 2012 with worldwide shipments of 406.0 million units compared to 401.8 million units in Q2 2011. Android 4.1 update being pushed out to Motorola Xoom WiFi tablets

Droid-Life reports that the WiFi version of the Motorola Xoom tablet has now started receiving the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean in the US. The update has now begun gradually rolling out to users though currently it is restricted to only those using the WiFi edition of the tablet. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Preview

At the Mobile Benchmarking Workshop here in San Francisco , Qualcomm showed off it’s next generation Quadcore mobile processor – the Snapdragon S4 Pro (APQ 8064) .  And guess what Qualcomm just did not make just a boring announcement about a chipset and that the devices using the chip will be in the market later this year. But , Qualcomm let us use a tablet (prototype obviously ) which uses the new quadcore chip with 4 Krait cores along with the new Adreno 320 GPU. Motorola Atrix 2 Review


Motorola launched Atrix 2 in India in March. It was announced for AT&T last October. It has 4.3-inch (960 x 540 pixels) display and is powered by 1 GHz dual-core processor. NVIDIA announces support for Miracast wireless display standard for Tegra 3 devices

NVIDIA has announced that they would bring support for Miracast, open wireless display standard  that was announced earlier this May. It would let Tegra 3 users to instantly stream content including photos and HDTVs to any Miracast-enabled display. The quad-core Tegra 3 chip would also let you stream intensive games such as ShadowGun THD which is Tegra 3-optimized game on to HDTVs. Nuance introduces support for ‘Hinglish’ language in Swype

Most Android users have tried and tested the Swype keyboard which relies on quite literally swiping your fingers across the on-screen keyboard. It uses adaptive learning capabilities and smart algorithms to type out the current word and more. Nuance today announced that keeping in mind the Indian market where users tend to mix English and Hindi while messaging, they’ve worked on a special ‘Hinglish’ keyboard. The keyboard has a dictionary of several thousand words which are often used including chai, paani, desi, garam, masti, jungli amongst others.

In addition, the application is much smarter than before due to its added capabilities like Next Word Prediction and Multi-Modal Keyboard which are detailed below.

Samsung Omnia M now available in India for Rs. 16,400

Samsung Omnia M that was announced in May is now available in India from official Samsung eStore. It runs on Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) and has 4.0-inch (800 x 480 pixels) Super AMOLED display, 1 GHz processor and 5 MP Auto focus camera with LED Flash and a VGA video calling camera. Samsung introduces Galaxy S3 London Olympics special edition flip cover

Samsung, Worldwide Olympic Partner for Wireless Communications Equipment has launched London Olympics special edition flip cover in UK. They have also partnered with Holiday Inn for providing Galaxy S3 users with an app that would let them use their smartphone as a room key or a portable hotel interphone, and to turn on/off the TV, Air conditioner, lights, and A/V in the Holiday Inn group of hotels. In addition, this app also local information, location-based offers and news.
