I have to admit I have been a fan of the iPad mini form factor ever since it was introduced and have owned several versions. Over the last few days, I have spent some time with the latest generation of the iPad mini and absolutely loved it. The iPad mini is not for all but it is a great device and the form factor calls for some interesting use case. Here are my thoughts in this article.

Despite notable product launches like the new lower priced iPad and products from other top-tier vendors, worldwide shipments for tablets declined 3.4% year over year in 2Q17, reaching 37.9 million, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker.

Worldwide tablet shipments decline 8.5% in Q1 2017: IDC

The worldwide tablet market once again contracted in the first quarter of 2017 (1Q17) with total shipments of 36.2 million, a year-over-year decline of 8.5%, according to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker. The first quarter contraction marks the tenth straight quarter that tablets have experienced a decline over the same quarter a year earlier, with the previous five quarters recording double-digit drops.

Tablet shipments in India decline 3.1% in 2016, Datawind leads with 27.6% share: IDC

Indian tablet market inclusive of slate and detachables ended the year 2016 with total shipments of 3.7 million units with a marginal annual drop of 3.1 percent, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The research firm attributed the shipment decline to the continuing decrease in demand for tablets. Tablet market sees 20.1% decline, Apple leads with 24.7% market share in Q4 2016 : IDC

Tablet market continued to decline in Q4 16 which marked the ninth consecutive quarter that tablet shipments have seen a nose dive. According to preliminary data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Tablet Tracker, vendors shipped 52.9 million tablets in the fourth quarter, which was a decline of 20.1% from the same quarter one year ago.

A total of 1.06 million tablets including slate and detachables have been shipped in India in CY Q3 2016 remaining stagnant over the same period last year, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). The total tablet shipments grew 7.8 percent in Q3 2016 over Q2 2016.
