Samsung has announced that its recently launched Galaxy S5 has selling better that its predecessor Galaxy S4. The latest flagship smartphone has set a new record for the company with opening day sales being 30% higher to that of the S4, according to reports from ZDnet Korea. The Galaxy S5 has reportedly sold twice as well in some European market.
Samsung had big plans for its yesteryear flagships – Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when it announced that both phones will be skipping Android 4.2.2 update and will be directly updated to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. The big plan seemed to go well for the South Korean electronics giant as it released the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3 right on time, but only to be halted later because of performance issues.
Samsung is known for supporting its high end devices with firmware updates that try to give it feature parity with flagships. The latest firmware leak reaffirms this with an extensive change log that brings the Galaxy SIII that much closer to the S4.
The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are 2 high-end smartphones with some very impressive specs.The HTC One has a very premium feel to it and is made of metal and packs a 4.7 inch Super LCD 1080p HD display. The Galaxy S4 on the other hand is fully made of plastic and is extremely thin and light and packs a 5 inch SuperAMOLED 1080p HD display. Both phones are priced relatively the same worldwide. We were at the Samsung Galaxy S4 India launch event held at a pretty interesting location , the Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon near Delhi. Back in June, Samsung had announced that the Galaxy SIII would reach 10 million sales by July and it seems that they’ve reached that goal right on schedule. Shin Jying Kyun of Samsung has announced that the Galaxy SIII crossed the 10 million sales mark since its launch on May 29th.
AT&T has announced the pre-order for the Garnet Red variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is exclusive to AT&T. Customers can pre-order this device through the operators website and in the company’s retail stores starting from July 15. In-store availability is set for July 29th. We have already seen the White Galaxy S3 and the Pebble Blue S3 and this is the first glimpse at the red one. There a couple of photos after the jump.
Samsung India launched the Galaxy S3 Smartphone in India at Rs.43180 and pre-order customers had to purchase it Rs.42500 which was a little higher than the market price of around Rs.38900.if you were one of the customers who had pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Samsung India’s eStore and purchased it , good news for you. Samsung has sent out mails to customers who had purchased the Galaxy S3 on the eStore with a coupon worth Rs.1500. the company says in the mail that they are “overwhelmed with the response of Galaxy S III on the eStore.”

The India launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is round the corner , May 31 being the date and Samsung has even started taking Pre-Orders for it’s biggest handset launch of the year. The Samsung Galaxy S2 was a big hit for Samsung and the company is looking to repeat history with the Galaxy S3. It might won some carrier confidence already as reports indicate over 9 million pre-orders for the device. The device is yet to reach consumers and goes on sale in many markets on May 31st and would be interesting to see the consumer response.
