MediaTek MT6731 SoC to power 4G smart feature phones running KaiOS

KaiOS, popular mobile operating system for smart feature phones that powers the JioPhone and the Nokia 8110 4G has announced their collaboration to integrate KaiOS with a series of MediaTek chipsets to power 3G and 4G devices. As part of this cooperation, the KaiOS mobile operating system will now run on the 3G MT6572 platform, and the latest MT6731, with support for dual-4G SIM cards. Nokia 2.1 Android 9.0 (Pie) update starts rolling out

After releasing Android 9.0 (Pie) beta update for the Nokia 6 yesterday, HMD Global has released Pie update for its budget Android Go Edition smartphone Nokia 2.1, as it had promised. The phone was released back in August last year running Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition), so this should be one of the first Android Go Edition phone to get Pie update. Xiaomi opens Android Pie Global Beta testing registration for Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi S2

Update – February 20, 2019: Xiaomi has opened registrations for global beta testing of Android Pie for Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi S2 (Y2) smartphones on its forum. Registration is open till March 15th (Beijing Time) and ROM will roll out staring March 19th so we can expect open beta starting March-end or early April.

Launched in 2015, OnePlus 2 was one of the popular devices from the OnePlus portfolio, even though it didn’t take off well among the customers. When Apple announced support for Dual SIM functionality on the iPhone XS and XS Max, a lot of readers were asking if they would have more than one eSIM on a device. Turns out, you can have save several eSIMs to the iPhone XS and activate any one SIM at anytime. This is such an awesome feature which is only available on the iPhone XS at this point. On a recent trip, I managed to activate several eSIMs on my iPhone XS Max and it worked like a charm. I managed to also try a couple of eSIM based data roaming providers Gigsky and Truphone.
