Update 2 – March 26, 2019: Dark Mode is now available for Redmi Note 5 Pro and POCO F1 with the latest MIUI 9.3.25 update. There is an option in the Display settings to enable Dark mode.

Xiaomi launched its first dual-camera phone Redmi Note 5 Pro in India last year running MIUI 9.2 on top of Android 7.1 (Nougat) and later updated it to MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) back in June 2018. MIUI 9.5 also brought some new features such as gesture support, Dual 4G VoLTE and more to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Later in September 2018, the company rolled out MIUI 10 update for the smartphone and last month it started recruiting Beta testers for testing Android Pie based MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for various devices including Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi 6 Pro, and Redmi Y2. Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO launched POCO F1 running on Android with a skin on top, called MIUI For POCO. It has been close to eight months since the Mi A2, Xiaomi’s second Android One smartphone was launched. Earlier this year a report from XDA said that the company is working on its successor code-named orchid_sprout. Now a new report says that the company is working on two Android One phones codenamed ‘bamboo_sprout’ and ‘cosmos_sprout’ along with another phone codenamed ‘pyxis’ which should be the Chinese version of one of these phones.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Go it’s the first Android Go smartphone in India at an event this week. It packs a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1GB of RAM, and runs on Android Oreo (Go edition). Last month, it launched the Redmi Note 7 in the country, which was launched with a different camera sensor in China earlier in January. Xiaomi has reported its earning for the fourth quarter (Q4 2018) and the whole financial year of 2018 that ended December 31, 2018. It reported revenue of 174.9 billion yuan (US$ 26.05 billion) for FY 2018, an increase of 52.6% compared to FY 2017, among which international revenue grew 118.1% year-on-year to 70.0 billion yuan, accounting for 40% of its total revenue. Net profit for year 2018 was approximately 13.478 billion yuan. Adjusted net profit (Non-IFRS Measure) was 8.6 billion yuan, up 59.5% YoY. Xiaomi has officially launched Mi Pay, the company’s latest mobile payment solution in India, after it was introduced back in December last year. Mi Pay is supported by ICICI Bank, has a basic UI and it requires Phone, Contacts and SMS permissions to run. Users have an option to transfer money to UPI address and Bank Account directly.
