Oppo teases the 5.9 inch N1 for a September 23rd reveal

Oppo has been constantly teasing the officially confirmed N1, the first in the series of camera centric flagship devices from the Chinese manufacturer. This time, they have revealed that the device is going to sport a huge 5.9 inch screen, which negates the earlier leaked specifications that the device will sport a 5.5 inch display. They have also revealed the front wireframe, which looks remarkably similar to the earlier leaked images, confirming the authenticity of the leaks. It was revealed to have a back-side touch sensor to navigate in a completely different way, adding to the fact that it might sport a really good camera.

Why the Microsoft – Nokia acquisition happened

Nokia and Microsoft just ended their joint press conference, in an effort to explain the acquisition the companies announced earlier today. As with any major announcement, especially with a brand like Nokia which invokes a lot of emotion, the reactions were predictably…. emotional. Risto Siilasma probably said it best, at the joint Nokia press conference in Finland – The acquisition is “Rationally perfect, emotionally complicated.” which we wholeheartedly agree with. Motorola Moto X Benchmarks

Motorola and Google unveiled the latest Android smartphone, the Moto X recently. We brought you the unboxing of the device recently, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Moto X is powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro MSM8960DT processor with Adreno 320 GPU. Vivid Blue HTC One and One mini officially announced

HTC announced the the Mini+ and Fetch Bluetooth accessories recently. Now the company has announced the BoomBass, a Bluetooth-enabled speaker / subwoofer with a dedicated amplifier. This provides clearer, more powerful bass when combined with the HTC One family’s BoomSound, says HTC. This offers enhanced audio even in lower range frequencies. HTC Desire 300 with 4.3-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor announced

HTC has announced the Desire 300, a new Android smartphone in the desire range, along with the Desire 601. It has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and runs on Android Jelly Bean with Sense UI. It has a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera without flash and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. HTC announced the Desire 200, an entry-level Android smartphone back in June. It uses a micro SIM and has HTC BlinkFeed, but lacks  BoomSound.

HTC has announced the Desire 601, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone in the Desire series. It was leaked recently and packs a 4.5-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with the new Sense UI. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, HTC Zoe with Sequence Shot, Always Smile and Object Removal, Gallery with Video Highlights and HTC Share. and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. Press images of the Sony Xperia Z1 Honami has leaked from a unnamed Asian retailer, according to Xperia Blog, who has posted the images. Sony released the final teaser of the phone recently, ahead of the September 4th launch and clear images of the device surfaced recently in a Chinese website that showed off the camera details, speaker grill and more. Microsoft agrees deal to buy Nokia Devices and Services Division

In a deal that would surprise noone in it’s happening but everyone in it’s timing, Microsoft will be acquiring Nokia’s Devices and services division in addition to licensing a significant portion of Nokia’s patents in addition to their mapping services. The deal in it’s entirety amounts to 5.4 Billion Euros paid in cash, 3.79 Billion for devices and services 1.65 Billion for the associated patents.

The transaction will see 32,000 Nokia employees transitioned over to Microsoft including 4,700 in Finland and 18,300 employed in manufacturing positions worldwide. In addition, a significant number of senior executives are expected to be transferring to positions within Microsoft, including Stephen Elop, Jo Harlow, Juha Putkiranta, Timo Toikkanen, and Chris Weber.

This is an absolutely monumental transaction and will go a long way towards shaping the smartphone landscape for years to come.  We will keep you updated with any details as we receive them.

Acer Iconia A3 with 10.1-inch HD display, quad-core processor, Android 4.2 announced

Acer announced the Iconia A1 tablet with a 7.9 inch display back in May, now it has announced the Iconia A3 tablet with a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS diplay. The Iconia A3 is also powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core cortex A7 processor (probably MediaTek) and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera. It comes in Wi-Fi-only and 3G + WiFi variants. It has Dolby Digital Plus that would offer 5.1 channel surround experience over headphones. No word on RAM and the battery capacity yet. Acer has announced the Liquid S2, successor of the Liquid S1 that was unveiled back in June. The Acer Liquid S2 would be the first phone to record videos at 4K Ultra HD resolution with it’s 13-megapixel rear camera that has a LED ring flash. It has a 6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels), IPS display at 368 PPI, powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera with-wide angle lens and 1080p full HD video recording. The Acer Float UI allows several Float app windows to stay open for better multitasking. iBall Andi 4.7G Cobalt Review

The iBall Andi 4.7G Cobalt has the right mixture of specifications and pricing to make it a successful, but only if people knew of its existence. It is a typical mid-range phablet that has the specifications and pricing resembling other devices, but is different in its own way.
