HP, Microsoft and Valve partner up to develop next-gen Reverb VR headset

Microsoft Windows 10 crosses 1 billion active users

It has been nearly 5 years since Microsoft launched Windows 10 back in July 2015. In May 2016, it quickly crossed 300 million active users as Microsoft offered a free upgrade to all Windows 7 and 8 users. Now, Microsoft has announced that the number of active users of Windows 10 devices has crossed a total of 1 billion.

Microsoft Defender Advanced Threat Protection arrives for Linux, coming to Android and iOS soon

Microsoft announced Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection for enterprise customers back in 2016. Later in 2018 it announced advanced threat protection (ATP) for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, way before the Windows 7 support ended in January 2020. Today, it has announced public preview of Microsoft Defender ATP for Linux. It supports servers running distributed versions of RHEL 7+, CentOS Linux 7+, Ubuntu 16 LTS, or higher LTS, SLES 12+, Debian 9+ and Oracle EL 7. Microsoft launches new Office app that combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for all iOS and Android users

Microsoft Office is arguably the most powerful suite of applications for the work, home, and school on the PC and Mac. However, they didn’t have much of a presence in the mobile app space. Now Microsoft plans to change that with the launch of the new Office app for both iOS and Android that consolidates Word, Powerpoint and Excel into one app. It was released in beta for Android users back in November last year.

Emperion Nebulus ARM-based Windows 10 device that can run Android apps teased

Emperion, a company based in UK has teased a device, in a tweet, that has the form factor of a phone and is apparently running Windows 10 on an ARM based processor. The device is called Nebulus and will have the capability to run Android apps without an emulator.

Microsoft Xbox has announced a new bug bounty program in an attempt to use the public’s help to identify critical bugs in the Xbox software ecosystem. The bounties will be decided according to the severity of the bug, its security impact and the quality of report submitted by the researcher (bounty hunter).

Microsoft ends support for Windows 10 Mobile OS, Office Apps will reach end of support in Jan 2021

Microsoft ended support for Windows 8.1 Mobile operating system back in 2017 and earlier this year it announced that support for Windows 10 Mobile OS will end in December this year. As announced, Microsoft has now ended support for Windows 10 Mobile OS and Office Apps will reach the end of support on January 21st, 2021.

Microsoft’s Project Lockhart could be cheaper, disc-less Next-Gen Xbox alternative to Scarlett

When project Scarlett was announced back in June, it was reported that there would two variants in the earlier leaks: the high-performance Anaconda and the lower-end Lockhart. A new report from Kotaku has confirmed that the cheaper, digital-only alternative to Scarlett called Lockhart is still in development.
