Sony releases the WG-C20, a more portable 2nd gen Wireless Server for your Smartphone

Remember the crazy WCG-10 wireless server from Sony? They have released a successor to it, but it now looks a lot slimmer, just like the Xperia devices, and it can now charge them too! Funnily enough, at first glance, one would think it is actually the back of a Xperia device. A quick recap of what it does is, it’s a portable solution that can connect wirelessly to your smartphone and back-up files, or even let you access the files already in the server and play it back. Asus Fonepad 7 with 7-inch HD display, 3G voice calling, 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel Atom processor announced

Asus has announced the Fonepad 7, successor of the Fonepad at the IFA 2013 in Berlin. It comes with a 7-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) IPS display with new smudge-resistant coating to prevent fingerprints, runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor with Hyper-Threading technology. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with 1080p full HD video recording and a 1.2 MP front-facing camera. It has metallic finish and comes with 3G HSPA+ 3G with up to 42Mbit/s download speeds with voice calling features. Sony DSC QX10 and DSC QX100 Camera Lenses officially launched for $250 and $500 respectively

Hot on the heels of the new camera-centric Sony Xperia Z1, the company just announced their new range of camera lenses at the Pre-IFA press conference. The Sony DSC QX10 and DSC QX100 are one of a kind camera lenses that act as your Smartphone’s own camera, with the former acting as the camera’s viewfinder. It is a pretty intriguing concept only slightly hindered by the pricing, coming in at $250 for the QX10 and $500 for the QX100. The QX100 is a high end camera lens with specifications of the RX100MII Point and Shoot camera, while the QX10 is a cheaper long zoom camera lens, both with a wireless viewfinder as the display. Sony Xperia Z1 with 5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 processor, 20.7 MP camera announced

Sony Xperia Z1 Sony has just announced the Xperia Z1, the company’s latest flagship phone at the IFA 2013. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine that would offer rich, natural colours, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Sony G lens with a 27mm wide angle f/2.0 aperture custom 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor, BIONZ image processing engine, , 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel 1080p front-facing camera. HTC Butterfly S now available online in India for Rs. 52428

HTC Butterfly S appeared on the official HTC India website back in July. Now the phone is available in India from online retailer Saholic. HTC announced the Butterfly S back in June. It packs a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super LCD 3 display display with 440ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jellybean with HTC Sense 5.0. Android passes 1 billion activations, 1.5 million devices activated daily

Back in July, at Google I/O, Sundar Pichai announced that the total number of Android activations had surpasses 900 million. Ever since that announcement, the whole of Tech industry has been expecting when the Android activations will hit the magical billion. Yesterday, Sundar Pichai, via his post in Google+ announced that Android has surpassed 1 billion activations so far.

Last year, in September, Google announced that the total number of Android activations had surpassed 500 million with 1.3 million activations per day. This year, the number has doubled and the number of activations per day has rose from 1.3 million to 1.5 million.

Essentially, there are a billion Android devices out there in the world and the rate is increasing rapidly at 1.5 million activations per day. Last month’s Android distribution break down revealed that more than 40% of Android devices are on Jelly Bean, 2.6% increase from 37.9% in July. Google is yet to release the distribution chart for last month.

It has a 4.7-inch (960 x 540 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Micromax launched the Micromax A110Q Canvas 2 Plus recently, and this one lies between the A110Q and the A116 Canvas HD. Asus Fonepad 7 video ad surfaces ahead of IFA announcement

Asus had introduced the original Fonepad at MWC 2013 earlier this year and the Fonepad saw a slight bump in the specifications sometime during summer. Asus just posted and removed a video ad for the yet another refresh of the Fonepad.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition was launched with much anticipation, as to how it will work and how the updates will roll out. While the immediate roll out of 4.3 inspired confidence there was always a worry that buying the S4 Google Play Edition will strip out all the important features of TouchWiz. While that still stands true, we found that one neat feature of the TouchWiz enabled S4 still works for the Google Play Edition, and that is the S4 View Cover functionality. We snapped the S4’s S-View Cover on to the S4 GPE and shot a quick demo of it for you –

Sony IFA 2013 Press Conference Live Blog

FoneArena is live in Berlin , Germany for IFA which is one of the largest technology shows of the world. Sony is holding a press conference later today where the company is expected to announce the much rumored Honami / XPERIA Z1 smartphone and a couple of very interesting lenses. Much is already known about the Sony Z1 and it is said to pack in a Snapdragon 800 processor with a very interesting 20MP camera. The design is believed to be a play on that of the Xperia Z and Z Ultra.

Intex Aqua HD with 4.7-inch HD display, quad-core processor and 13MP camera coming soon

Intex launched the Aqua i7, the company’s flagship Android smartphone at an event earlier today. Now the Aqua HD, a new smartphone has appeared on the official website. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. This would compete with the iBall Andi 4.7G Cobalt since both have similar features. Did Google just accidentally leak the LG Nexus 5?

Having announced the Google KitKat partnership for the next version of Android, the company released a video showing a celebratory installation of the new mascot in GooglePlex. This video might have looked normal at first, but keen eyes spotted a weird new device with the Nexus branding on the back. Could this be the unannounced Google Nexus 5? Also, if the logo is inspected at close, it looks to be made by LG. Unless our eyes fool us, this might actually be the upcoming Nexus 5 phone from Google, made by LG.

New iPad casing surfaces in a video, reveals smaller frame with same screen size

Apple announced an event on September 10th few hours back. Now a new video from uploaded by Unbox Therapy shows an iPad shell or digitizer along with the rear casing compared with the iPad 4. The video claims that these are the parts of the 5th-generation iPad. According to the video, the new iPad would be narrower by 15mm and have a slim side bezel similar to the iPad mini.
