Nokia Lumia 820 3600 mAh Mugen Power Batteries extended battery review

nokia-lumia-820-mugen-batteries-3600-mah-2

The Nokia Lumia 820 is at the fag end of its life cycle, waiting to be succeeded by a more capable Lumia 825 or something, but it is still present in the hands of lots of people, who unanimously face the single most annoying issue on the 820, the disappointing battery life. I know I face it, because I have been using one for the past 7 months and I can tell you outright that the in-built 1650 mAh battery is bad, period.

Seeking respite from the incessant battery drains, my eyes grew wide when the well known Android “extended battery” maker, Mugen Power Batteries, announced that huge extended batteries for the Lumia 820 are in the works. There were two variants announced, and one of them was the 3600 mAh one with a special battery door. Needless to say, I got the biggest one. What follows is my experience with the accessory over a comfortably long term of 2 months to see if it is really worth it or not.

As reported earlier, Hipstamatic went on stage with Nokia at the Lumia 925 launch event and announced that they are bringing their currently iPhone exclusive Hipstamatic Oggl app to Windows Phone 8 devices from Nokia. Popular for its filters and the funky UI, the app remains the only official solution to post directly to instagram. But Hipstamatic does have its own community too and that’s called Oggl. The free Oggl app includes five pre-set lenses and films, and the ability to edit and share photos to Oggl, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Alleged screen bezel of a 6 inch Nokia Lumia Phablet leaks

nokia-6-inch-lumia-phablet

Just hours after we reviewed a monster of a device with a 6.3 inch screen, a screen bezel has leaked on to the internet from the factories in China. Guess what, it reportedly measures 6 inches in diagonal and it’s a Nokia Lumia. Previously, we had seen a Nokia Lumia device with an aluminium body leak from a mass production line, with unnaturally long sides and we think this screen bezel might be part of that puzzle. With Microsoft and Nokia rumoured to support bigger 1080p resolution displays with a interim GDR3 Windows Phone update in fall, the phablet leak is in line with expectations.

nokia-lumia-625-colours-1

We just saw Nokia tease the Lumia 625 yesterday. While we were pretty sure it was the Lumia 625 that is going to be announced today, some others thought it might be a tablet, but as a tradition these days, the full specifications and colourful press images of the Lumia 625 have leaked out on to the internet, just ahead of launch, confirming our suspicions about the device. The usual Data Sheet that is given to journalists with the press kit has leaked out from Finland’s own Puhelinvertailu and it tells us a lot more than what we already know. Read past the break to find the full specifications of the Lumia 625.

Is Nokia launching the 4.7 inch Lumia 625 tomorrow?

nokia-lumia-625-orange-leak-tease

Nokia has just teased in their official Conversations blog that “something BIG” is coming tomorrow. The blog usually teases phones ahead of launch with clear cut titles, like “Zoom in” for the Lumia 1020, “Steel yourself for the next instalment” for the Lumia 925, and similarly, we think that “Something BIG” is meant for the first 4.7 inch Nokia – the Lumia 625. In a very quick tease they have said that they are launching the Lumia 625 tomorrow at 9 A.M UK time, which is 02:30 P.M IST tomorrow for us. Will there be details we actually don’t know about, yet? We’ll see, but there was a specific leak earlier that leads us to believe that it is indeed the Lumia 625.

nokia-lumia-625-leaked-images-1

The Nokia Lumia 625 codename has been doing its usual rumour rounds for a while now, and while the name was confirmed, the device was nowhere to be seen in a leak. Worry not, the leak machine from China is in full swing and images of what seems to be a big Nokia device plastered as the “Lumia 625H” has been leaked with pictures of its front, back and its sides. The Lumia 625 reportedly sports a 4.7 inch screen with other specifications resembling of or improving on the Lumia 620, presumably.

Is Oppo working on a Windows Phone device?

oppo-windows-phone

Oppo, a chinese smartphone manufacturer known and revered for the Find 5, a smartphone that we immensely loved, is reportedly looking into launching Windows Phone based handsets soon. If the teased renders from the company’s own director of social marketing are to be believed, the manufacturer is looking at producing Windows Phone 8 based devices. The Android running Oppo Find 5 has stunning hardware, as noted in our review, and the company had released a very limited red version of it, which you are seeing above. Showing off the Windows Phone UI on the equally minimalistic Oppo Find 5 hardware has gotten us excited.
