HP Slatebook x2 Android convertible launched in India for Rs. 39,990

Ever since the HP slate that launched at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, HP had started its Android on-slaught with more devices. Sometime back, HP launched the Slatebook X2, a convertible Android tablet with a keyboard dock that made it work like a laptop too, if needed. This is the standard on most Windows 8 tablets and the trend was started way back, by the ASUS transformer, which has been caught up by other companies such as HP.
The SlateBook X2 has a 10.1-inch (1920 by 1200 pixels) IPS display, powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). Surprisingly, the full sized detachable keyboard dock has a touch pad too. The Keyboard dock has a full HDMI port, USB 2.0, an SD slot, and an audio port. It also has a battery that would act as a charger when docked.

LG Optimus L5 gets the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update in India

The LG Optimus L7 got the Android 4.1 update in India back in May, now LG has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) update for the Optimus L5 (E612) users in India. The Optimus L5 was announced back in February 2012 and released in India last June. The software version is JZO54K similar to the other countries and the software version is V20c. WhatsApp moves to subscription-based model on iOS at $0.99/year

WhatsApp collected for $ 0.99 as a one time payment for the iPhone app. Now the company has changed their business model that would offer the app free for the first year after that the user would be charged $.99 (~Rs. 55) per year after that, similar to other platforms such as Android and Windows Phone. If you had purchased the app already or downloaded the app when it went free it will remain free for the rest of your life. Lenovo IdeaPad A1000 with 7-inch display, voice calling now available in India for Rs. 8980

Lenovo unveiled the IdeaPad A1000 at the MWC 2013 earlier this year. Now the tablet is available from the official Lenovo online store in India. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core MediaTek MTK8317 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a SIM card slot with 2G data support and voice calling capabilities. It has large, dual front-facing speakers that would offers enhanced audio experience for music or movies along with Dolby Digital Plus support. Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0 likely to launch tomorrow in India

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and 8.0 inch devices were launched separately, with one device announced in April and the other on the 3rd of June, with not that much of a fanfare. In less than two months, it has been teased as “coming to India” on Samsung’s Facebook page and is also being displayed as “coming soon” in the Samsung India eStore for the both the models. The Galaxy Tab 3 devices are an evolution of the Galaxy Tab 2 tablet and are all equipped with voice calling capabilities, much like the original Galaxy Tab. Boasting 7 and 8 inch screens respectively, they are much of the earlier Samsung device like the Tab 2 310 and the Note 8.0. It is also likely that Samsung will be launching both the devices tomorrow, as we have just received an invite for a press conference tomorrow.

Lava Iris 504Q Benchmarks

Lava launched the Iris 504Q, the company’s latest smartphone with a 5-inch HD screen last month. Here we have the device with us. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek 6589 processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU. It runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean) OS. 4.7 inch Nokia Lumia 625 revealed in leaked pictures

The Nokia Lumia 625 codename has been doing its usual rumour rounds for a while now, and while the name was confirmed, the device was nowhere to be seen in a leak. Worry not, the leak machine from China is in full swing and images of what seems to be a big Nokia device plastered as the “Lumia 625H” has been leaked with pictures of its front, back and its sides. The Lumia 625 reportedly sports a 4.7 inch screen with other specifications resembling of or improving on the Lumia 620, presumably.

Twitter for BlackBerry 10 gets improved UX and new features with the latest update

Twitter for BlackBerry 10 has been a mixed experience, with it mostly tending to be worse than on other platforms, but thanks to a new update, the real time social network is now better and more functional on BlackBerry 10. Huawei MediaPad 7 Youth with 7-inch display, dual-core processor, Android 4.1 announced

Huawei has announced the MediaPad 7 Youth, the company’s latest tablet in the MediaPad series. It has a 7-inch IPS display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top. It has 3G connectivity through a SIM card slot and supports voice calls, SMS, and MMS. It has a rear camera, a front-facing camera and has a sleek aluminum metal unibody design. Huawei unveiled the MediaPad 7 Vogue last month powered by a quad-core processor. Details such as display resolution, RAM and memory are not available yet, we will update you once we get more info. Is Oppo working on a Windows Phone device?

Oppo, a chinese smartphone manufacturer known and revered for the Find 5, a smartphone that we immensely loved, is reportedly looking into launching Windows Phone based handsets soon. If the teased renders from the company’s own director of social marketing are to be believed, the manufacturer is looking at producing Windows Phone 8 based devices. The Android running Oppo Find 5 has stunning hardware, as noted in our review, and the company had released a very limited red version of it, which you are seeing above. Showing off the Windows Phone UI on the equally minimalistic Oppo Find 5 hardware has gotten us excited.

HTC Butterfly S launching in India soon

HTC announced the Butterfly S, successor of the Butterfly last month. Now the phone has appeared on the official HTC India website, which indicates that the launch could be expected soon. It packs a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super LCD 3 display display with 440ppi with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, poweed by a 1.9 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.2.2 Jellybean with HTC Sense 5.0. Intex Aqua I-5 Unboxing

Intex launched the Aqua I-5, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in the Aqua series last month. Here we have the device for unboxing. The Aqua I-5 has a 5-inch qHD (960 × 540 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Intex launched the Aqua Wonder quad-core, the company’s first quad-core smartphone back in April.

Gionee Elife E3 gets an OTA update in India, adds new camera features, new apps and more

Gionee launched the Elife E3 in India back in May. We reviewed the device last month that runs on Android 4.2.1 (Jelly Bean). Gionee has announced that they have started rolling out a over-the-air (OTA) update for the device. This update doesn’t upgrade the Android version but brings new Camera features including new modes picture clear, best picture, muli-angle shots and beauty effects. This also adds online wallpaper, support for Indian cities in the weather app, new du batter and Gionee Xender apps.
