DJI has previewed the new Osmo Pocket 4P at the Cannes Film Festival after introducing the DJI Osmo Pocket 4 last month. The announcement at Cannes indicates a shift in the Pocket series’ focus, positioning the new model as a tool for professional and independent filmmakers alongside general consumers.

Professional Technology in a Compact Form
Building upon technology developed for the company’s larger professional lines, such as the Ronin stabilizers and Inspire drones, the Osmo Pocket 4P incorporates high-end imaging capabilities into a pocket-sized form factor.
Key technical and hardware updates include:
- Advanced Imaging System: The camera features a new sensor capable of capturing a wider dynamic range for increased tonal depth.
- Professional Color Grading: Support for 10-bit D-Log2 color profiles is included, catering to professional post-production workflows.
- Enhanced Portrait and Zoom Capabilities: Updates to portrait shooting are designed to render accurate skin tones and depth of field, while an improved zoom allows for closer framing of distant subjects.
- Low-Light Performance: The device utilizes updated sensor technology and refined algorithms to maintain image clarity and detail in challenging lighting conditions, such as nighttime or indoor settings.
Targeting Indie Filmmakers and Documentarians
During its showcase in Cannes, DJI highlighted the camera’s utility for documentary makers, visual storytellers, and independent filmmakers who require agile equipment setups. The Osmo Pocket 4P is marketed as a compact alternative to traditional, large-scale cinematic rigs, aiming to bridge the gap between consumer accessibility and professional-grade image quality.
Ecosystem Integration and Power Solutions
The new gimbal is designed to integrate seamlessly with DJI’s broader ecosystem of production tools, including its audio and stabilization accessories.
At the event, the company also exhibited its portable power solutions to complement the camera. The recently launched DJI Power 1000 Mini and the DJI Power 2000 were showcased as reliable supplementary power sources, designed to support the Osmo Pocket 4P during extended shooting schedules.
Availability
Pricing and specific configuration options for the Osmo Pocket 4P have not yet been disclosed. DJI stated that the device will be available for purchase through the company’s official channels and authorized retail partners at a later date.
