Xiaomi’s MIUI is amongst the most popular android skins with more than 300 million worldwide users. MIUI is a heavy skin on top of Android, but what sets it apart from other Android skins is its feature richness and customizations. Xiaomi used to roll out MIUI Global Beta ROM update biweekly, including closed beta on every Tuesday and public beta on every Friday but last month, the company announced its plan to terminate MIUI Global Beta ROM program and said that Global Beta ROM updates will not be released after 1 July. Xiaomi confirms Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A Android Pie update plans

Update 4: June 28, 2019 —  Looks like Xiaomi has changed its mind. After saying that it doesn’t have plans to provide Android Pie update plans few months back, Xiaomi now says that it is looking for testers for global stable ROM for Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones, since it will end beta updates for all phones from July. However, it is yet to roll out pie update for the Redmi S2/Y2 as it had promised to roll out the update around June.

Xiaomi suspends MIUI Global Beta ROM, will release stable updates more frequently

With more than 300 million global users Xiaomi’s MIUI is amongst the most popular Android skins. MIUI Global ROM has different versions such as Stable and Beta to cater to different users. Xiaomi smartphones come preloaded with MIUI Global Stable ROM pre-installed, and these builds are claimed to be most stable and are recommended for day-to-day usage to normal users by the company. MIUI Global Beta ROM is designed keeping smartphone enthusiasts in mind who want to be amongst the first ones to experience new features, but Beta ROM is not as good as Stable ROM in terms of stability. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro gets Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10.3 Global Stable update with Dark Mode [Download Link]

Xiaomi launched its first dual-camera phone Redmi Note 5 Pro in India last year running MIUI 9.2 on top of Android 7.1 (Nougat) and later updated it to MIUI 9.5 based on Android 8.1 (Oreo) back in June 2018. MIUI 9.5 also brought some new features such as full-screen gesture support, Dual 4G VoLTE and more to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Later in September 2018, the company rolled out MIUI 10 update for the smartphone, followed by Android 9.0 (Pie) based MIUI 10 Global Beta update in March 2019. Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro gets Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI Global 10.3 Stable ROM with Dual VoLTE and Dark Mode

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 6 Pro in India back in September 2018 running MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 (Oreo) and later in December, it was updated to MIUI 10 which was also based on Android 8.1. Back in February, the company started recruiting Beta testers for testing Android Pie based MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for various devices including Redmi 6 Pro. The company rolled out Android Pie based MIUI Global Beta ROM for the device in March. Mi File Explorer gets Dark Mode with latest update

Xiaomi introduced system-wide dark mode on MIUI Global ROM couple of months ago but some of Xiaomi’s in-house apps such as Mi Drop, Mi Music, and Downloads still lack dark mode. Xiaomi has recently added dark mode to its popular Mi File Manager app, the app is not exclusive to MIUI users and can be downloaded from Play Store. Xiaomi recently introduced Screen time feature with MIUI Global Beta ROM, it is similar to Digital Wellbeing that helps you understand your phone usage better, app usage timers so that you can limit the usage, visuals detailing how many times you unlock your phone per day and how many notifications you receive. Xiaomi introduces new Utilities card in App Vault bringing 40+ new services

Xiaomi introduced App Vault back in 2017 with MIUI 9 with an aim to bring convenience at users tip. MIUI App Vault shows cards for various services and is an attempt similar to Google Now cards for showing all the important information in one place, MIUI quick cards can be accessed in a similar fashion by swiping left on the home screen.
