motorola just launched the moto g max, the company’s latest smartphone in the ‘g series’ in India, as it had announced with an emphasis on battery capacity, display specifications, and updated hardware.
The device introduces a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 50MP Sony LYTIA camera sensor, and runs Android 16 out of the box.
Design and Build Durability
The moto g max introduces a satin-textured finish to the G-series lineup, aimed at reducing visible fingerprint marks and smudges. It is offered in three Pantone-curated finishes: Stargazer, Alaskan Blue, and Malaga.
Motorola has built several standard durability protections into the chassis:
- Glass Protection: Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers the front panel for scratch and drop resistance.
- Environmental Resistance: SGS-certified IP64 rating against dust ingress and water splashes.
- Structural Rating: Compliance with MIL-STD-810H standards for shock and vibration tolerance.
Display and Audio
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD/display featuring a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,050 nits peak brightness in High Brightness Mode. It incorporates Motorola’s “Water Touch” technology, which allows the capacitive touch layer to remain responsive when used with wet hands.
For audio, the moto g max includes stereo speakers tuned with Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio support and dual microphones and retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Camera Specifications
The rear camera array is centered around a 50-megapixel primary sensor paired with integrated image processing tools:
- Primary Camera: 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor utilizing Quad Pixel binning for lower-light capture.
- Secondary Camera: 8MP ultra-wide sensor.
- Front Camera: 32MP front-facing shooter with Quad Pixel technology.
- Hardware & Sensor Features: A 2-in-1 ambient light sensor for exposure calibration and autofocus assist.
- Software Integration: Native integration with Google Photos AI tools, including Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Reimagine, Auto Frame, and Portrait Light adjustment.
Performance and Hardware
The moto g max is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, manufactured on a 4nm architecture. The platform is paired with:
- Memory & Storage: LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 3.1 internal storage.
- Virtual RAM: Software-based RAM Boost feature to allocate unused flash storage as virtual memory.
Battery and Charging
A primary hardware focal point is the 7,000mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. Silicon-carbon chemistry provides higher energy density within standard form-factor constraints.
- Charging Speed: Supports 33W wired charging via Motorola’s TurboPower standard.
- Longevity: Rated for up to 1,000 charge cycles while maintaining standard operational capacity.
Software, Security, and Updates
The handset ships with Android 16 along with built-in Google Gemini assistant features and Motorola’s proprietary Moto Secure and ThinkShield mobile security suites. Biometric authentication is handled via a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and facial recognition.
motorola has committed to providing:
