AT&T recently announced that, the much-awaited Galaxy S II smartphone will be available for its customers from October 2. You can get this device for $199.99 with a 2 year service agreement.
Samsung Galaxy S II is the company’s most popular Android smartphone. This handset was launched in South Korea during April, followed by other European and Asian countries in May. After waiting for nearly 3 months, Samsung finally announced the Galaxy S II in 3 variants for AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile customers in the US. Samsung is also celebrating their 2nd birthday of Samsung Apps by offering 30 popular paid Bada apps for free. Samsung Apps is now available in 121 countries and offers 40,000 applications. Samsung has launched 3 new 3G phones, Samsung Champ 3.5G, Samsung Chat 527 and Samsung Primo in India. The Samsung Champ is a touch phone with 2.8 inch touch screen. The Samsung Chat 527 (S5270) is a QWERTY phone with optical track pad and the Samsung Primo (S5610) has 2.4 inch display. Samsung now has 13 phones in their 3G portfolio, and these phones would deliver data speeds up to 7.2 Mbps in 3G. Samsung Electronics has just made an announcement that it’s investing USD 70 million in the Noida mobile manufacturing facility. Seems like India is one of the top 3 mobile markets for Samsung globally.This facility in Noida is Samsung’s 6th manufacturing unit outside Korea and employs over 4000 people. This facility in Noida is also capable of handling TVs , Refrigerators , ACs and Washing Machines in addition to mobile phones. Surprisingly Samsung also has a manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur , Chennai where Nokia also has a pretty big factory. Press Release after the break .

US network AT&T has announced three new Windows Phone 7 Mango smartphones, the Samsung Focus S, Samsung Focus Flash and the already announced HTC Titan.
The Samsung Focus S will feature a 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus screen, the same one that can be found on their current Android flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S II. Like the Galaxy S II, it will have a very thin body – measuring just 8.5mm, the same thickness of the Galaxy S II at its thinnest point. The Focus Flash on the other hand will have a smaller 3.7″ Super AMOLED screen. Both of these smartphones will have a 1.4 GHz processor of the single core variety.
Not much is known for either devices though we do know that the Focus S will have a 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front facing camera. The Focus Flash will have a 5MP rear camera and front facing camera with unspecified resolution.
No pricing has been released, though they are expected to arrive on the fourth quarter of this year. It is unknown if Samsung plans to release these phones worldwide.

According to recent report by research firm IDC (International Data Corporation), the Smartphone sales in Western Europe is more than the feature phone sales in Q2 2011. The feature phone shipments were down at 29% to 20.4 million units in 2Q11, while smartphone shipments increased 48% to 21.8 million units compared to Q2 2010. Samsung’s twitter account has let out the news that Bada 2.0 will be rolled out to all Samsung Wave devices including the low end Wave 525 , 523 models. The new version of Bada will be available starting Quarter 4 in Europe.

Apple has been behind companies manufacturing Android devices from a long time, they have sued every manufacturer having Android devices in their portfolio. Just last month Apple had filed an Injunction against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which was valid only in Germany, today the Dusseldorf court has said that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 does infringe some of Apple’s patents.

Samsung labs have just released a new launcher app for Android based phones. Called ‘Pure Breeze’ the app replaces the default homescreen and allows users to organize their apps, groups, and tasks, and create shortcuts.
