vivo has officially announced that its flagship X500 smartphone lineup will launch in September in China as the successor to the X300 series, entering a highly competitive period for mobile industry releases.
According to statements from vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao and additional details shared by industry tipster Digital Chat Station, the upcoming lineup will consist of three models: the vivo X500, vivo X500 Pro, and vivo X500 Pro Max.
Internally codenamed “Thanos 500″—a reference extending the nickname given to the telephoto capabilities of the earlier X100 Ultra—the series is designed with significant enhancements across five core pillars: video, photography, performance, display, and operating system.
Key Camera and Hardware Specifications
- Zeiss Ultra Dynamic Main Camera: Co-developed by Vivo’s Blueprint team and Sony, the primary sensor (a 50MP, 1/1.28-inch sensor referred to as the Blueprint Phantom / Guangyu 900) achieves an industry-leading 17EV dynamic range, bringing professional cinema-grade exposure handling to video recording, even in high-contrast and backlit environments.
- High-Frame-Rate Video Output: The sensor introduces native support for 4K video recording at 240fps for slow motion, alongside 4K 120fps HDR direct output.
- Gimbal-Grade Stabilization: The primary camera setup features a 3-degree wide-angle Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) system paired with CIPA 7.0-level professional stabilization.
- Periscope Telephoto Unit: Building on previous generation flagships, the lineup incorporates a custom 200MP HP0 large-sensor periscope telephoto module.
vivo positions the upcoming series as a major evolution in mobile cinematography, aiming to narrow the gap between consumer smartphones and dedicated video recording equipment.
