Smartphone sales rise 47 percent as worldwide phone sales go down 3 percent

Third quarter of the year is usually really bad for mobile phone manufacturers as there are no huge celebrations where people buy devices and it is also the time where new devices are unveiled which will be launched during Christmas. So people tend to wait for Christmas time where all the mobile manufacturers try to bring in their best devices. Gartner’s research shows that mobile phone sales has gone down 3% compared to last year but in the same research smaprtphone sales has gone up 47%.

LG Optimus Vu Review

If the Galaxy Note is anything to go by, Sales of super-sized phones are not going to slow down any time soon. Not wanting to miss out on the trend, LG recently launched the Optimus Vu. Its take on the phablet form-factor includes a 5″ screen in a fairly uncommon 4:3 aspect ratio.

LG and Google announce the Nexus 4

Google had canceled the New York Android event due to Hurricane Sandy but the hurricane could not stop them from officially announcing the devices.Google and LG have finally officially unveiled the next Nexus phone which is from LG this time round -Nexus 4. The handset has been leaked multiple times and was reportedly lost in in a bar. The Nexus 4 looks  very similar to the previous Nexus devices from the front but very different in the back.The Nexus 4 was jointly designed by LG and Google. LG Nexus 4 with Nexus branding shows up

LG Mobile’s upcoming Nexus  smartphone has been doing rounds on the internet a lot. And today we have a sweet looking picture of the phone with the iconic Nexus branding on the back thanks to @evleaks. The pictures of this phone had been leaked in the past as the LG E960 but the Nexus branding was missing in those images. LG reports net profit of $138.57 million in Q3 2012, Mobile phone sales up by 5.4%

LG Electronics has announced their earnings for Q3 2012. They have reported net profit of 157 billion Won (US$ 138.57 million) with operating profits of 221 billion Won (US$ 195.06 million). The Mobile phone sales were 5.4 percent more compared to last quarter with operating profit of 22 billion Korean Won (US$ 19.42 million), but it is 11.4% less compared to Q3 2011. LG shipped 14 million units of mobile phones in Q3 2012, 9 percent increase compared to previous quarter. LG Optimus G launched: powered by quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2GB RAM

LG today launched its next generation flagship smartphone, the Optimus G at an event in Seoul. The Android 4.0 powered smartphone runs on Qualcomm’s Fusion 3 chip which includes a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC ie the APQ8064 and includes 2 GB of RAM alongside. A 4.7″ 1280×768 True HD IPS Plus display dominated the front with a ppi of 320.

LG Electronics, LG Chem, LG Display & LG Innotek collaborate for next gen Smartphone

We already know that a new LG smartphone powered by the Qualcomm S4 Pro Quad-core chip is coming soon. LG even teased about it’s upcoming phone in a video. Earlier today LG has confirmed through a press release that LG Electronics and it’s sister companies LG Chem( Battery ) , LG Display (Display ) and LG Innotek (Touchscreen) are collaborating for the company’s next gen Smartphone. LG says that the upcoming smartphone will feature each company’s best technology.

Hands-on with LG Optimus L5 In India

 

LG Mobile is being quite aggressive this year when it comes to launching attractive Android smartphones running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. LG Mobile has announced three international models running on ICS apart from a few Gingerbread running devices at MWC 2012. LG LS970 Superphone with Snapdragon S4 processor and 13MP camera rumored

Rumors have surfaced of an LG superphone named the “Eclipse 4G LTE” with a spec sheet that sounds like every nerds wet dream. Powered by a 1.5Ghz quad core Snapdragon S4 processor , the phone will be paired with an Adreno 320 GPU. 2GB of RAM will be included in the handset.

Gameloft to offer Stereoscopic 3D games for LG Optimus 3D Max

Gameloft has partnered with LG once again to bring several Stereoscopic 3D games for the upcoming LG Optimus 3D Max smartphone. The Optimus 3D came pre-loaded with 3 Gameloft S-3D games last year including several downloadable games. LG announced the Optimus 3D Max at the MWC 2012 last month. LG Wireless Charging Pad WCD-800 announced

LG has announced a new Wireless Charging Pad (WCD-800), successor of the Wireless Charging Pad (WCP-700) that was launched last year. The new charging pad is large to fit large phones that could be placed both in horizontal and vertical directions on the base cradle. This lets the users read messages, emails and view calls comfortably when placed in the vertical manner and they can conveniently watch TV and movies in horizontal way.
