A couple of days ago, an unlucky, not exactly tech-savy colleague of mine, returned back home from one of our storage halls, reporting happily that he just purchased a new Apple iPhone 4S for just € 135 from a random dude selling knife kits and iphones on the streets. Even though he’s no mobile expert, he was a little bit suspicious at first too, but ultimately decided to buy it. A bargain, right? iPhone 4S for such a little price? Well, you probably guessed it by now, it was a fraud. This is not an iPhone 4S.

Rumour : Apple might open Retail Stores in India soon

Apple might open it’s own Retail Stores in India soon according to a report by LiveMint which quotes an unnamed source in a government body Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. The Indian government has approved 100% Foreign Direct Investment FDI in Single Brand Retail recently. So such a move by Apple will not be surprising,as they have massive expansion plans for Asia. Apple has not commented much about India in particular in the past but the quick launch of the iPad 2 with decent pricing and iPhone 4S with crazy pricing are indications of things to come.  The most popular tablet I see when I travel in India is the iPad and I have spotted a lot of iPhones as well. iOS 5.1 bringing deeper Facebook integration ?

iMore reports that the iPhone might be getting deeper Facebook integration similar to Twitter in the next update ie iOS 5.1 . The website shows off screenshots from the beta 3 release which allows users to add Facebook names to the contact card.

3G toggle finally coming to the iPhone 4S , shows up on our iOS 5.1 beta 3

One thing I passionately hate about the iPhone 4S is the inability to turn 3G data off. This is annoying if you are using the device in areas where 3G coverage is not great. The phone does switch to 2G networks when 3G coverage is absent but users could not control it manually.It kills the battery also pretty fast. Some were blaming the new Qualcomm chip in the device while rest were blaming Apple for their futuristic thinking of a world with flawless 3G / HSPA coverage.  Now good news for all iPhone 4S users. In the latest developer build , the 3G network toggle has reappeared.I can confirm as you can seen in screenshots is a device running iOS 5.1 beta 3 which was released today. iPhone 4S Launched in India on Airtel and Aircel

The Apple iPhone 4S was launched on both Aircel and Airtel in India today at a midnight launch ceremony. The Airtel launch was held at an upscale restaurant while Aircel decided to keep it real by holding the event at their South Extension market retail outlet. The launch events included handing over the handsets to the first pre-order customers.

Siri can now tweet as Developer creates a Proxy Server

One developer @Plamoni has managed to create a Proxy Server for hacking around Siri – the virtual assistant found on the Apple iPhone 4S. Since he shared the source code on github another developer put together a twitter plugin which lets you tweet using Siri. Watch the video below where the developer of this twitter plugin for the Siri Proxy Server shows how Siri can be used to tweet. Damn Cool !

Airtel Apple iPhone 4S Pricing 16GB – Rs.44500, 32GB – Rs.50900, 64GB – Rs.57500

While we got some news about the Apple iPhone 4S pricing  from Aircel ,  we now have the pricing from Airtel. Its not looking very different.The 16GB model is about Rs.400 lesser than on Aircel and priced at Rs.44500.There is a 64GB option at Rs.57500. The 32GB model is priced exactly the same at Rs.50900. Looks like Airtel is taking pre-bookings online . Apple does not directly sell iPhones in India and operators actually procure them and sell it here. The iPhone 4 pricing at Rs.34500 was actually pretty decent. But the iPhone 4S pricing seems very high. There is also news that the iPhone 4 8GB version will cost Rs.37900 and the 3GS will cost Rs.20900. That looks like an increase in the cost of the iPhone 4  as well. Aircel Apple iPhone 4S Price – Rs.44900 for 16GB , Rs.50900 for 32GB !

We have just heard that the Apple iPhone 4S wont be coming for cheap in India. The price of the 16GB and 32GB variants on Aircel  are out . The cheapest version of the iPhone 4S which is the 16GB version will come for Rs.44900 and the 32GB version will retail for a shocking Rs.50900. This information comes from a Nidhi Singal who walked into a Aircel store in the capital New Delhi and got this information. As you would know both Airtel and Aircel announced that they are launching the iPhone 4S in India .  Both the operators are starting Pre-Orders from Nov 18 that is today and with this kind of pricing I’m not sure how many users would actually still think of getting one. Aircel launching the iPhone 4S in India on Nov 25th

Aircel has now announced a date for it’s iPhone 4S launch. The operator just shared on it’s Facebook page that it is launching the iPhone 4S in India on Nov 25th. Yesterday Aircel and Airtel announced they are launching the iPhone 4S in India soon.

We guess Aircel (and Airtel) might announce their pricing ( and weird money back plans ) on the 25th. We don’t have any details about the pricing but should have some info soon. The iPhone 4S packs a Dual Core CPU , 8MP Camera with Full HD video recording and the interesting virtual assistant Siri. Looks wise its almost same as the previous iPhone – the iPhone 4. The device runs on iOS 5 which is the latest operating system for iPhone , iPad and iPod touch.

Unlocked Apple iPhone 4S now shipping from Apple Store in the US

When Apple launched the Apple iPhone 4S last month , it also announced it’s plans to sell factory unlocked versions in November which could be purchased without the need for a contract. Today , the Apple Store in the US is taking orders for the Unlocked iPhone 4S which starts at US$ 649 for the 16GB , $749 for the 32GB and $849 for the 64GB. Just a reminder that most states in the US charge a sales tax so the final price at the time of check out might be  slightly higher. Airtel launching iPhone 4S in India soon

Like Aircel , Airtel India has also announced on it’s Facebook page about it’s plans to launch the Apple iPhone 4S in India soon. As of now only Airtel and Aircel are the official operators authorized by Apple to sell the iPhone 4 in India. So this news is not very surprising. But then for those of you who have been waiting for the iPhone 4S to launch in India, good news ! We are not sure if Apple will get the pricing right though !

Aircel launching the Apple iPhone 4S soon in India

Aircel India just announced on it’s official Facebook page earlier today that it is bringing the Apple iPhone 4S to India soon. The company would be sharing more details about the launch soon. There are no details about the pricing or the plans but expect it to be similar to the iPhone 4 Pricing with a slight premium. The mysterious story of the Apple iPhone 4S not working in India

If you are one amongst consumers who had purchased the iPhone 4S from outside India and were facing issues getting it to work here , good news for you. Many users including me were seeing no signal bars on the iPhone 4S in India. Calls and SMS were not working.Surprisingly 3G data was working fine on most operators including Airtel , Vodafone and BSNL. I had tried using some international SIM cards such as AT&T, T-Mobile , O2 UK, 3 UK, SmarTone (HK). Apple iPhone 4S Singapore Prices Out

Looks like Apple is all set to launch the iPhone 4S in more countries on October 28th. The pre-order pages for the countries part of the Oct 28 launch went up few hours ago. Amongst those countries , the only country in Asia is Singapore where Apple products are normally priced similar to the United States. Here we have news of the Singapore prices of the iPhone 4S. Prices start from 948 SGD for the 16GB version , 1088 SGD for the 32GB version and 1238 SGD for the 64GB version.This works out to about Rs.38000 approx for the 16GB version , Rs.42500 approx for the 32GB version and Rs.48400 approx for the top-end 64GB variant.  you might also have to pay GST or a Sales Tax in addition to the above price.  From the pricing , one can assume that the device is sold unlocked  but we don’t have confirmation of that.But the product family page  mentions the word unlocked.The part number for the basic version is MD235ZA/A.
