Datawind launches 4 new 7-inch Ubislate Tablets running Android 4.0

Datawind, the company behind the low-cost Aakash tablets has launched 4 new 7-inch tablets, UbiSlate 7Ri, UbiSlate 7R+, UbiSlate 7Ci an d UbiSlate 7C+. These tablets come with a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) display and run on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich). These are powered by Cortex A8, 1 GHz processor and has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a front-facing camera. Some models also have GPRS data support. The PadFone is a innovative concept from Asus , a phone which can fit inside a tablet and you can use the phone like a tablet. Apple iPhone 5 Prices Compared across the World

Apple unveiled the iPhone 5 few hours back, and announced that it would go one sale in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK on Friday, September 21. While they have only released the contract pricing for the US, they have announced the contract-free pricing for other countries. We decided to do a comparison of the price of the iPhone 5 in Canada, France,  Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK and convert them to Indian Rupees INR. It would go on sale in 22 more countries on September 28 and is expected in 100 countries with 240 carriers by December 2012. So, India might get the iPhone before that. Nokia Lumia 900 now available in India for Rs. 32999


Nokia Lumia 900 finally goes on sale in India as they promised. The Nokia Lumia 900 with LTE support was originally launched exclusively for AT&T in the U.S. and it was announced for the global markets at MWC earlier this year.  The Lumia 900 packs in a 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display and is powered by 1.4GHz single-core processor. Sistema to acquire Aircel for $3 billion

Sistema, Russia’s largest investment company is all set to acquire a controlling stake in Aircel Communications for around $3 billion (~Rs. 16,500 crore) according to a report from The Economic Times. Malaysia’s Maxis Communications owns 74% stake in Aircel that has about 65 million subscribers. Apple iPhone 5 Unlocked Prices for USA Revealed

When Apple launched the iPhone 5 yesterday , only contract pricing for the device was revealed for the US market, starting from $199 for the 16GB version ,  $299 for the 32GB version and $399 for the 64GB version. We did tell you about the Unlocked iPhone 5 prices for UK and Singapore . But now the Apple US site is displaying some prices for the iPhone which seems like the prices for the unlocked versions. It might also be a typo as these were the prices at which the iPhone 4S was available previously.

Confirmed: iPhone 5 Pre-orders Set to Begin at 12:01 AM Pacific Time Tomorrow

Customers who wish to purchase the iPhone 5 will  be able to place their order in the U.S. starting at 12:01 Pacific Time, 3:01 AM Eastern on Friday, September 14th.

Apple has confirmed to Wired that it will begin taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5at 12:01 AM Pacific Time tomorrow. Verizon and Sprint have also announced 12:01 AM Pacific launches for their own pre-orders. AT&T has not yet officially released a pre-order starting time.

For those who aren’t able to pre-order, iPhone 5 will also be available at Apple’s retail stores starting at 8 a.m. local time on the Sept. 21 launch date.

MediaTek MT6577 1GHz dual-core processor to power Spice Stellar Horizon and Micromax A90

Semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek has announced that the Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) and the Micromax A90 would come with a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor. The Micromax A90 Superfone Pixel was originally launched in India last month for Rs. 12990, and we reviewed it recently. It had a MediaTek MT6575 single-core processor instead of a dual-core processor, as it was announced during the launch. The Spice Stellar Horizon (Mi-500) that was launched in June at Rs. 11,999 was expected to come with a 1 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, but it was delayed for several months.Now it is confirmed that it would come with a MediaTek MT6577 processor instead. Android Jelly Bean port ready for Intel smartphones, No word on roll out

Waiting for Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) to hit your Lava X900 ? You’re in luck as Intel has just finished off porting the latest version of Android to its Medfield chips. The Android 4.1 build is complete and is being used as a daily driver by Intel employees said Mike Bell, Mobile group General Manager, in an interview with PC World.

Motorola XT890 to run on 2Ghz Intel chip ?

Motorola is planning to hold an event next week in partnership with Intel. Phones running on Intel’s Medfield chip are widely expected to be launched. If this FCC filing is to be believed then we’re going to be in for a treat with some very potent hardware lined up. The Motorola XT890 is rumored to be powered by a 2Ghz Intel chip. It is believed that the screen resolution is 897×540 which would be a bit disappointing.

Apple iPhone 5 Launch Countries and Rollout

Apple will be launching the iPhone on September 21 in 9 countries – Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the US and the UK.  Apple will begin taking pre-orders in these countries this Friday September 14. Interestingly UK, Singapore and Hong Kong are countries in which Apple sells iPhones at the full price and mostly unlocked.  If you plan to be one of the 1st to own the iPhone 5 and live outside the US, may be you should ping your friends in these 3 countries or may be take an iVacation. Apple iPhone 5 Singapore Prices are Revealed , starts from S$948

Singapore is one of the few countries getting the iPhone 5 on launch day September 21 and Singapore is one of those markets where Apple directly sells unlocked iPhones on it’s online store to consumers.  The 16GB iPhone 5 is expected to cost 948 SGD (Singapore Dollars).  Apple will start taking Pre-orders on September 14.
