India wearables market grows 165.1% YoY in Q3 2020; shipping 11.8 million units: IDC

Compared to the growth of the smartphone market, the accompanying wearables market has seen significantly more growth. In the third quarter of 2020 alone, the Indian wearables market has shipped a total of 11.8 million units, which calculates to a YoY growth of 165.1%.

Micromax IN 1b first sale delayed

Micromax launched its ‘IN series’ smartphones in India earlier this month. The Micromax In Note 1 went on sale in the country on November 24th as it had promised and the phones sold out in less than an hour. Indian mobile market exports 12.8 million units till September 2020, $1.5 billion in value

Although the COVID pandemic caused significant disruptions, the Indian mobile exports market still managed to ship a total of 12.8 million units, according to a report from techARC. The exports amounted to nearly $1.5 billion in value and the top exporter was Samsung by a large amount.

Indian Government bans 43 more mobile apps including AliExpress

The Indian government today announced that it has banned 43 more mobile apps, including AliExpress, Alipay and more Alibaba apps. It says are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order. The government banned 59 mobile apps in the country back in June and 118 apps including PUBG Mobile in September. PUBG Mobile India recently said that it will launch a new game for India. Tamil Nadu bans online gaming involving betting

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit has promulgated Ordinance to “Ban Online Gaming” that involves betting. This is issued after innocent people mainly youngsters are being cheated and some people have committed suicide after losing money, said the official release. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Palaniswami had recently said that the government was taking steps to ban online games following several demands and complaints about suicides of people who lost money due to such activities in the state.
