Global smartwatch market grows 27% YoY in Q2 2021; Apple remains in the top position


Recently, Counterpoint released this year’s statistics for smartphone shipments, TWS shipments, and following that now the company has released the Global smartwatch shipments statistics.

According to the statistics, the global smartwatch shipments increased 27% YoY during Q2 2021 and Apple remained in the top position. The Global Smartwatch Shipments Tracker shows that Apple is in the first position with 28%, followed by Huawei with 9.3%, Samsung with 7.6%, imoo with 6%, Garmin with 5.8%.

The report also shows that Samsung reported a shipment growth of 43% YoY and Garmin reported a shipment growth of 62% YoY, exceeding the average market growth rate. Further, the report shows that the sub-$100 smartwatch segment grew 547% YoY and the user base of Apple Watch crossed 100 million.

Commenting on the smartwatch market outlook, Senior Analyst Sujeong Lim said:

The smartwatch attach-rates for smartphones have been steadily rising. Apple’s ecosystem is seeing a greater attach rate as the brand continues to bake in attractive designs, health features, and related services around it. Apple Watch’s user base crossed the 100-million mark for the first time during the quarter ended June, capturing the lion’s share of the smartwatch user base globally. The US continues to be the key Apple Watch market, contributing to more than half of its user base, with an attach rate of close to 30%.
