POVA has officially announced the launch of the POVA 8 Pro 5G in India, as it had promised. The smartphone incorporates an updated aesthetic centered around the brand’s “Delete Normal” design ethos, featuring a triangular rear camera module alongside a secondary dot-matrix screen.
The rear panel is equipped with the Alive Matrix Display, a functional dot-matrix screen designed to display battery levels, active timers, incoming notifications, and caller ID with spam detection. The display also functions as a desk clock when the handset is placed face down.
Display and Camera Hardware
The POVA 8 Pro 5G comes with a 1.5K AMOLED panel supporting a 144Hz refresh rate, engineered for high outdoor brightness and reduced eye strain in low-light environments.
For photography, the device features a primary 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording. The camera system is complemented by AI-assisted features, including AI Auto Zoom for automated framing, 3D Photo depth effects, and Motion Trail tracking for dynamic subjects.
AI Call Management and Productivity
Aimed at high-volume business and communication workflows, the device includes an integrated AI assistant. The company said that this is segment’s first built-in tool capable of recording, transcribing, and summarizing standard cellular as well as WhatsApp calls.
The assistant supports English, Hindi, Bengali, and Marathi, automatically converting discussions into action items, organizing shared files, and categorizing contacts based on commercial intent and payment statuses without requiring third-party applications.

Commenting on the launch, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of TECNO Mobile India, stated during the launch:
If we’re being honest, smartphones have gotten boring – we’re all carrying around the exact same glass slabs year after year. We built the POVA 8 Pro because we felt users deserved more than another safe, incremental upgrade. It brings a bold design that turns heads, paired with practical AI features that genuinely make everyday tasks easier. We didn’t want to make another ‘good enough’ device; we built something that gives people a reason to be excited about their phone again.
