Nokia Lumia 520 now available on Snapdeal for a price of Rs. 10,390

Nokia Lumia 520, the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device till date was recently launched in India with availability dates promised around the second week of April, but jumping ahead, it has now appeared on Snapdeal, one of the online marketplaces for phones in India. It is showing up as available for Rs. 10,390 with delivery slate as “dispatched within 15 business days” which is normal for any phone they sell. The low-mid end Windows Phone 8 device was initially set to launch globally in Q2, but, India being an important market and following the relatively good success of the Lumia 510, it seems to have been prioritized for India, which is great news for budget smartphone buyers.

Samsung has announced Galaxy Pocket Neo and Galaxy Star, two new Android smartphones in the Galaxy series. The Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo is the upgraded version of the last year’s Galaxy Pocket and the Galaxy Star is a budget phone with 2G EDGE support. Both these phones have a 3-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and has a 2-megapixel rear camera. The Galaxy Pocket Neo is powered by a 850 MHz processor and the Galaxy Star has a 1 GHz processor. Both these phones would come in Dual SIM variants with Always On feature that would forward calls to the other SIM, depending on the market.

The LG Optimus L3 II Dual has a  3.2-inch (320 x 240 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and packs a 1540 mAh battery.  The Optimus L7II Dual has a 4.3-inch (800 × 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen IPS display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8225 processor with Adreno 203 GPU and packs a 2460 mAh battery. These run on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and have dual SIM support with a dedicated SIM switch button. Google Nexus 7 32GB WiFi and 3G versions launched in India for Rs. 18999 and Rs. 21999


Google Nexus 7 16GB version went on sale in India from the Google Play Store last month at a price tag of Rs. 15,999, which is already being delivered. Asus has launched the 32GB WiFi and 32GB 3G versions of the tablet in India. Google unveiled the Nexus 7 last June, and the 3G version with 32GB storage was announced at the Google I/O in October last year. HTC Desire P with 4.3-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor announced

HTC has announced the Desire P, a new Android smartphone in Taiwan. It has a 4.3-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen Super LCD2 display and is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor. No details about the Android version, but it is likely to run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto focus camera at the back with LED Flash, BSI sensor for better low-light imaging and comes with Beats audio support. BlackBerry 2013 roadmap leaked , BlackBerry 10 Tablet and Phablet may be in the works

Looks like there is a new BlackBery 10 leak on the inter webs. The BlackBerry Z10 was the first BlackBerry 10 device to be launched along with the Q10  and it was leaked a lot before the official reveal on January 30th. Now some presentation slides have emerged which show a B10 L which might the first BlackBerry 10 tablet. Also we see a U10 which looks like a Phablet/Large screen device. The device has been confirmed in an in-depth article on Samsung by Bloomberg Businessweek, which reveals that the device would launch soon after the launch of Galaxy S4 in April. Xolo has officially launched the B700, the company’s new Android smartphone with a 3450 mAh battery which offers 363 hours of standby 20 hours of talk time on 3G,  up to 38 hours Music Playback via internal speakers and up to 86 hours via wired headset. Xolo promises 9 hours of video playback while using internal speakers and up to 10.5 hours while using a wired headset. The Xolo B700 went on sale online last week.

Will Google start selling the Nexus 4 in India soon ?

In an interesting development , Google has listed the Nexus 7 up for sale on the Google Play India store just minutes ago.  This is the first time Google is directly selling a device in India to a customer through its Play store. This might be  a sign of things to come. The Nexus 4 is also hidden on the store but the page says that ” it is not available in your country ” . There has been a lot of speculation about the Nexus 4 launching in India ever since Google started selling one of the most affordable Android 4.2 powered in the US market.

Asus PadFone 2 gets minor software update – improves stability , camera and WiFi performance

Asus is one of the best handset makers to provide timely updates for its Android phones. They launched the PadFone 2 last year with Android 4.0  ICS on board and rolled out an update to Android 4.1 JellyBean last year.Now the PadFone 2 has got a rather minor software update which is expected to make the already awesome PadFone 2 even more stable. There seem to be improvements in overall stability , camera , WiFi and battery life according to the official change log which you can find below.

Samsung Galaxy S3 mini Benchmarks

We unboxed the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini (GT-I8190) earlier this week. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Galaxy S3 mini was announced back in October 2012. It is powered by a dual-core NovaThor U8420 chip clocked at 1 GHz and has a Mali-400 GPU. It has a 4.0-inch (480×800 pixels ) Super AMOLED display at 223 ppi pixel density. Let’s see how the phone performance in the benchmark tests.
