New Nexus 7 2013 Unboxing

The all the new Nexus 7 2013 edition just landed at FoneArena and we thought we will bring you one of the first unboxings from India.The new Nexus 7 is priced at $229 and has gone on sale in the US and is expected to come soon to India but not in the immediate future.Like the previous Nexus 7 , this tablet is also manufactured by Asus for Google and sold by Google directly.The main highlights of the 2013 Nexus 7 are the design including the massive Full HD display and the change from a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor to a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This Nexus 7 is the first Android device to ship with Android 4.3 JellyBean out of the box which is now also available for several other devices.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Unboxing

We have an exclusive unboxing of the just announced Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom camera phone first on FoneArena which was showcased at an event in London last month where we got a hands on this super-sized camera phone.The S4 Zoom is basically a Galaxy S4 mini with a zoom lens attached to it on the back. It looks like a phone from the front but the moment you get a glimpse of that 10x zoom lens on the back, you just can’t continue to think of the Galaxy S4 zoom as a phone, it feels more like a mini version of the Galaxy Camera which was launched last year.The main difference between the two is that the S4 Zoom can make phone calls while the Galaxy Camera can’t. Last year Samsung started a new trend by announcing a mini version of their Galaxy S III flagship and shortly after the launch of this year’s Galaxy S4 flagship, they continued the trend by announcing the Galaxy S4 Mini. As the name suggests, the handset is a smaller version of the flagship but although it’s smaller and comes with a smaller price tag, it still packs a punch and will appeal to many users who found the original Galaxy S4 too big.

We are here in San Francisco on invitation from Qualcomm to benchmark their Snapdragon 800 processor (MSM8974) which features a 28nm HPm quad core Krait 400 CPU capable of running at 2.3 GHz per core and the new Adreno 330 GPU. It is expected to be the fastest mobile processor in the market and even beat the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa and Qualcomm’s own Snapdragon 600 processor in terms of benchmarks and performance. Samsung has carved out a huge market for its Galaxy range of Android phones. One of the most popular phones in the series was the Galaxy S3, clocking over 40 million units in sales as of January this year. Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 Hands On and First Impressions

We just got our hands on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and it is truly a mega phone with a massive 6.3 inch screen true to its name. The screen is a Super clear LCD with a 720p resolution and the phone is powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual core Snapdragon processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt memory and also a microSD card slot which can take upto a 64GB microSD. The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 which is the latest version of Android with Samsung’s TouchWiz layer on top.

Panasonic P51 Review

Panasonic announced and launched its first and only smartphone for the Indian market – the Panasonic P51 last week. It is supposed to be its splashing entry into the crowded Indian smartphone market and everybody expected it to make an entry in the low-mid end segment where the volume is, so did we. But instead of following the “new manufacturer – low price” route, Panasonic did the opposite in bringing a flagship-like device with a price tag that you would attach to a mid-high end smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S4 shipments surpass 10 million in less than one month

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S4 sales (to sales channels) has crossed 10 million units globally in less than one month after its launch. Last week Korean daily reported that the Samsung Galaxy S4 shipments crossed 4 million units in just 5 days and Samsung has shipped over 6 million units of the Galaxy S4 in 14 days. Nokia Asha 501 Hands On

Nokia’s has added some more colour to its Asha family with the new Asha 501 Phone.The new Asha phone is slotted for a price of about Rs.5600 excluding taxes. Nokia has introduced a new design and form factor with the Asha 501 – A full touch screen with no buttons at the bottom except for one back button that sits pretty, right at the bottom. We got a chance speak to Peter Skillman, VP, Mobile Phones User Experience, Design, about the Asha 501 at the launch event. HTC One Review

Once considered a leader amongst smartphone manufacturers, HTC has fallen from grace due to increasing competition and in some ways failure to keep up. With ever declining sales, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is in a dire scenario that calls for desperate measures.

The One is it’s offering to the world and is meant to show that the company can still create a compelling product. CEO Peter Chou is confident enough to proclaim that he will resign if the handset doesn’t do well in the market.
