Nokia announced their first phablet – Nokia Lumia 1520 at the Nokia World event held in Abu Dhabi. Nokia Lumia 1520 is not only the first phablet from Nokia, but it is also the first Windows Phone phablet and the first Windows Phone device to run on a quad-core processor. Nokia is using the best quad-core chip in the market for it – Snapdragon 800. We bring you the hands-on comparison between Nokia’s first phablet and Samsung’s latest flagship – Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Samsung was the first to introduce the phablet category and now are in the third iteration of their flagship phablet while Nokia are just taking their first step in the phablet territory.

Samsung Galaxy Gear compatibility to come to more Galaxy devices

Back in IFA 2013, when Samsung announced their first smartwatch – Galaxy Gear, it was compatible only with Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which was also unveiled at the same event. At the event, Samsung confirmed that Galaxy Gear will be compatible with more Samsung Galaxy devices in the near future and more than a month later, Samsung has released the list of devices that will be compatible with the Galaxy Gear.

Nokia Lumia 1520 vs Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Hands On

Nokia World Event, held at Abu Dhabi was probably Nokia’s last event and the Finnish company couldn’t have said a better good-bye. The event had a lot of devices and the pick of them was Nokia’s first phablet – Lumia 1520. Nokia Lumia 1520 is also the first Windows Phone phablet, the first Windows Phone 8 smartphone to feature a quad-core processor and the first Windows Phone device to come with a 1080p display. We, at FoneArena, were present at Abu Dhabi for the event and were able to make a quick hands-on comparison video between the new Lumia 1520 and Galaxy S4 Zoom.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition launched in India for Rs. 49990

Samsung has launched the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) (SM-P601)  in India. It was announced at the IFA 2013 last month as an upgrade to the last year’s Note 10.1 that was launched in India as Galaxy Note 800. It packs a 10.1-inch (2560×1600 pixels) TFT LCD display, powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core Exynos 5 Octa processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung TouchWiz UI on top. It has a 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with a S Pen stylus with a lot of features such as S Note(Easy Chart), S Planner and Air Command: Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen Window.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Samsung was the first company to introduce a 5inch+ phablet and they started it off with their original Samsung Galaxy Note. Initially, the Samsung Galaxy Note was not well received by the critics, but soon the adoption of the big display device among the users made it a hit. Samsung followed up the success of the original Samsung Galaxy Note with the second version – Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was launched at IFA 2012 and went on to become one of the greatest hits for Samsung. After having given back to back successful Galaxy Note products, Samsung was expected to come up with another champion of a phablet at IFA 2013 and Samsung did not disappoint. Samsung announced the third iteration of their Note series at IFA 2013 in Berlin – Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Being the successor of a very successful Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy Note 3 had a lot of promises to fulfill. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is an update over the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in almost all the terms and lets check out if it is worth the upgrade.

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) in India. The LTE variant of the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505) got the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update in Germany last week. The Samsung Galaxy S4 was launched back in April running on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It got the first update back in May the brought stability improvements, another update in June brought option to move apps to the SD card, new Smart Pause toggle and more.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update starts rolling out

Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S4 LTE variant (GT-I9505) starting from Germany as reported by SamMobile. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the first non-Nexus device to run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition got the Android 4.3 update back in August. Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Trend and Galaxy Star Pro, two new dual SIM smartphones in India officially. The Samsung Galaxy Trend went on sale in India online last month and the Galaxy Star Pro went on sale earlier this month. Both these smartphones pack a4 .0-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1GHz single-core processor and run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The Galaxy Trend has a 3-megapixel rear camera and the Galaxy Star Pro has a 2-megapixel rear  camera. Samsung Mobile, Nokia top Attractive brands in India

Samsung Mobile is the India’s Most Attractive Brand, according to a recent survey conducted by research firm Trust Research Advisory (TRA). It released a survey for India’s Most Trusted Brand 2013 earlier this year, which was won by Nokia, which retained the first position from the Brand Trust Report 2011 and the Brand Trust Report 2012, but Samsung Mobile has grabbed the top spot as most attractive brands for the year 2013. Sony and LG grab  the second and third spots, which belong to Consumer Electronics category. Nokia holds the second spot, while BlackBerry manages to grab 52nd spot in the mobile phones category.

We already saw one, the extra battery kit and today we have another, and that is the Flip Wallet cover for the Galaxy Note 3. The Flip Wallet cover is like any flip cover, it replaces the phone’s back, but also has a slide-in slit opening for storing your cards. Yep, this is for people who don’t carry their wallet everywhere and also easy access with your card being inside of your phone’s cover. 2013 has been an eventful year for cameras on Smartphones. We have seen oversampling algorithms take advantage of huge sensors, increased pixel sizes subverting the megapixel race, optical image stabilization enabling great low light imaging and general widespread adoption of stacked CMOS sensors, making it one of those years when companies made their camera efforts serious. This also means that the traditional gap between the best and the rest has gotten a lot more closer. So, which is the best smartphone camera of this year? We have brought a number of flagship devices together to find out, in a blind test.

Remember the Samsung Galaxy Golden that was released in Korea back in July ? We brought you the hands-on photo gallery of the device recently. Now the Samsung SM-W2014, a new flip phone has surfaced in China. The phone would have dual 3.67 inch (800 x 480 pixels) Super AMOLED displays, powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800processor and run on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It would come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. Internal memory and the battery capacitiy are not available yet. Samsung Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy S3 get price cut, now available for Rs. 22080 and Rs. 24900

Samsung has cut the price of the Galaxy S4 mini and the Galaxy S3 in India. The Galaxy S3 got a price cut in India back in February. It was launched in India in May 2012 at a MRP of Rs. 43,180. It is now available for Rs. 24,900 after the recent price cut. No sign of price cut for the 32GB version of the Galaxy S3 yet. This is the first price cut for the Galaxy S4 mini since its launch earlier this July for Rs. 27990. The Galaxy S4 mini is now available for Rs. 22,080 after the price cut. Samsung has announced the Galaxy J (SC-02F), a variant of the Galaxy S4 is Japan for NTT Docomo in their Winter 2013 range as rumored earlier. It has a 5-inch Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). It packs a 13.2MP rear camera with LED Flash, Zero Shutter Lag, BSI and Full HD video recording and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. It packs 3GB of RAM, 2600 mAh battery and is 8.6mm thick.
