We saw the 1080p GDR3 screenshot, we saw the aluminium case and the bezels, and then we saw the phone’s rather huge front in another leaked image, but this time, thanks to the leakmeister EVleaks, we have a full press image. From the looks of it, it is definitely made in polycarbonate, with the design closely resembling the Lumia 925, and the device is… just massive. nokia-ceo-stephen-elop-asha-501 copy

Nokia and Microsoft just ended their joint press conference, in an effort to explain the acquisition the companies announced earlier today. As with any major announcement, especially with a brand like Nokia which invokes a lot of emotion, the reactions were predictably…. emotional. Risto Siilasma probably said it best, at the joint Nokia press conference in Finland – The acquisition is “Rationally perfect, emotionally complicated.” which we wholeheartedly agree with. But what drove the companies towards this deal? Why did Microsoft buy Nokia? What’s in it for both the companies? We try to explain with two points of views, read on.

Nokia Lumia 1520 with 6 inch 1080p display appears in leaked image

Nokia’s intentions to introduce a large screen device are fairly obvious by now. It has been long rumored that the Finnish smartphone company is working on a phablet class device that would bring a large 6 inch screen to Nokia’s Lumia hardware. The image leaked earlier today  corroborates all that we know about the device. Placed next to the Lumia 1020, the handset appears positively gargantuan.

With the screen switched on, we also seem to be getting our first look at the upcoming GDR3 update that would bring support for 1080p screens, faster processors. To make use of all that screen real estate, Windows Phone will now allow you to place a double wide tile next to a medium sized tile. Additionally, a third row of tiles can be placed on the homescreen. The leaked image closely resembles an image that had earlier this year that claimed to depict the front panel for the upcoming device. Additionally, the engraved proto.nokia.com text is true for all Nokia prototype devices. Continue reading “Nokia Lumia 1520 with 6 inch 1080p display appears in leaked image”

Nokia Lumia 925 Blind Test – Flagship Shoot Out

lumia-925-shootout copy

The Nokia Lumia 925 launched just six days back in India with a price tag of Rs. 33,499. It was announced back in May, as a refreshed alternative to people who didn’t like the bulk and design of the good old Nokia Lumia 920. The camera was supposedly improved, along with the build and design, with a six element lens and all new algorithms, while retaining all the PureView OIS goodness that the 920 was known for. While the Lumia 920 was good, it had problems with defocused softer photos and overall unreliable performance, making it a tougher buy when compared to other flagships. But, does the Lumia 925 fix that? Can it produce better pictures than competing flagship devices? Exactly what we are going to see today.

Nokia Pro Cam on the Lumia 925 – a Walkthrough

Much has been said about the Nokia Lumia 1020 and its amazing camera prowess, but what made it fun was using the camera interface. Yes, the interface, also known as the Nokia Pro Cam, provided the much needed control and versatility for the robust camera hardware that Nokia packed in the Lumia 1020. But the other PureView devices are no exception either and Nokia made sure that 920, 925 and 928 users get the Pro Cam, and eventually they did. We immediately installed it onto the Nokia Lumia 925 and found it to work really well, just like how we found it on the Lumia 1020 earlier. So, we made a video to show you how awesome it is, take a look at the video walk through below and go past the break for a detailed walk through in images and text with bonus samples –
