Google Nexus 7 Price Revealed – $199 takes on the Amazon Kindle Fire

Google has announced it’s first Nexus branded tablet in partnership with Asus and it has announced the price of the 7 inch tablet. Consumers can order the tablet from the Google Play Store directly. The tablet will be available for $199 starting from mid-July.  Looks like Google is taking on the Amazon Kindle Fire which is priced exactly the same. Google’s Nexus 7 tablet revealed, Comes with quad core Tegra 3 processor

Google is expected to announce its first foray into a Nexus branded tablet device. Ahead of the Google I/O event, Modaco  has managed to get its hands on the complete spec sheet and product images from the Play Store servers. The tablet will presumably be the first device to run the next generation Android Jelly Bean OS.

MTS launches mPOS card payment acceptance service


MTS has launched a new service called MTS mPOS (Mobile as Point of Sale) that offers acceptance of card-based payments through mobile phones and tablets. This service reduces the high hardware costs of a conventional POS terminal and the monthly maintenance charges and would be useful for useful for retailers, home-delivery based service models like e-commerce players, food chains etc. PayMate launched similar service and the app called PayPOS last month. Apple launches new Podcasts app for iPhone and iPad

Apple has released a new standalone Podcasts app for iPhone and iPad. Apple announced the iOS 6 earlier this month that would not have the podcast feature inside the iTunes app, instead users can download this app to subscribe to and play your favorite podcasts. MediaTek launches MT6577 dual-core platform aimed at sub-$200 Android 4.0 smartphones

Semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek has announced MT6577, a new dual-core platform developed specifically for sub-$200 smartphones. It features a dual 1GHz ARM Cortex A9 processor, PowerVR Series5 SGX GPU from Imagination Technologies and MediaTek’s proven 3G/HSPA modem. It runs on the latest Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. Tata Docomo has launched monthly service plan for new BlackBerry Curve 9320 and BlackBerry Curve 9220 smartphones for GSM customers in India that offers free calls, SMS and BlackBerry Internet service. Airtel has launched Number Locker, a new service that would let you keep your number active even if you are not using it. You can also avail outgoing and incoming facilities during this period. The base plan starts at Rs. 150 that would let you keep you number active for 180 days (6 months) and goes up to 2 years for the Rs. 600 plan.
