Airtel has launched new roaming packs for both the prepaid and postpaid customers that would let them enjoy free roaming while travelling across India. Airtel launched a roaming pack for prepaid customers in Delhi back in March that offered discounted rates for incoming calls for roaming, now the new packs would offer free incoming calls. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) reduced the limit for national roaming tariff for calls and SMS last month. Videocon already offers free incoming calls without any processing fee or a special tariff vouchers. Other operators are yet to announce free national roaming plans.

Nokia 301 officially launched in India for Rs. 5349
Nokia has officially launched the Nokia 301 in India. It was announced at the MWC 2013 earlier this year and went on sale in India last month. It has a 2.4-inch (320 x 240 pixels) display and runs on Series 40 OS. It has 3G support and comes with 3.2-megapixel rear camera with unique panorama, sequential shot which takes shots at 3-5 fps. It also lets you choose the perfect picture and self-portrait feature that uses voice prompts to tell you how to position the phone so your face is properly in the frame. Xolo Q600 with 4.5-inch display, quad-core processor, Android 4.2 now available for Rs. 8749
Xolo Q600, the company’s latest smartphone in the QCORE series is now available from online retailer Snapdeal. It has a 4.5-inch (854 ×480 pixels) FWVGA capacitive touch screen display at 217 ppi, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel (VGA) front-facing camera. It has dual SIM support with dual standby similar to other Xolo smartphones. This would compete with the recently launched Lava Iris 458Q that was launched recently. Sony Xperia i1 Honami renders surface, packs 20MP camera with 4K video recording
Images of the Sony Xperia i1 surfaced last week, now the press renders of the phone has surfaced online. Xperiablog.net got hold of these images that looks similar to the previous leaks. The new images reveals a aluminium frame and a dedicated camera button on the right side. The previous leak showed the rear part of the phone but it did not have a Xenon flash. The phone’s rear part is not revealed in these renders so it is not clear whether the final device would have a Xenon flash.

Budget iPhone pictures surface, shows off colorful rear shells
Images of the budget iPhone has surfaced online that reveals colorful rear shells in yellow, red and green colors. Images are from the a Chinese forum Weiphone that also coincides with board of the leaked iPhone 5S. Pegatron CEO recently revealed that the budget iPhone would not be very cheap. Last week’s DigiTimes report revealed that the entry-level iPhone might come with plastic chasis and not a glass or a metal one to save the cost. Samsung plans to invest Rs. 500 crores to ramp up mobile production in India
Samsung plans to invest Rs. 500 crores to increase the mobile phone production, according to a recent report from PTI. Samsung has been launching several Android smartphone in India at varying price range. The company launched the flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4 recently. These were reports that Samsung is prepping their India plant to manufacture the Galaxy S4. Samsung’s Nokia facility manufactures 3.5 to 4 crore phones annually including high-end smartphones. Samsung has launched range of smartphones in India that are priced between Rs. 5240 and Rs. 40,300.

Nokia to buy Siemens’ stake in the joint venture for $2.2 billion
Nokia has announced that they have entered into an agreement with the Nokia Siemens Networks to acquire the remaining 50% stake in their joint venture. The purchase price is EUR 1.7 billion (~US$2.2 billion). Nokia Siemens Networks was established on April 1, 2007, as a joint venture combining Nokia’s Networks Business Group and Siemens’ carrier-related operations for fixed and mobile networks. Nokia Siemens became the global provider of telecommunications infrastructure in more than 150 countries around the world. Huawei Ascend P6 Google Edition reportedly in the works
Huawei unveiled the Ascend P6 earlier this month which is already on sale in China. BlackBerry ships 6.8 million smartphones in Q1, Stock down 28%
Blackberry pushed out its quarterly earnings report yesterday and the news is disappointing for the most part. Covering financial quarter 1 for 2014 ie from March to May 2013, the smartphone manufacturer has increased its revenues from $2.8 billion to $3.1 billion. The company has lost a total of $84 million which amounts to about 13 cents per share. Total device shipments were 6.8 million of which just about 40% were BB10 based devices. Android 4.3 spotted on Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, ROM leaked
Android 4.3 that is yet to be released has leaked from a Google Play edition of the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Google Play Editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One went on sale in the U.S. few days back. It would not be shipped until 9th July, but some got early access to the device. Sammobile obtained the screenshots that revealed the Galaxy S4 running stock Android 4.3. Later they released the stock ROM of the Android 4.3 for the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505). BlackBerry PlayBook will not get the BlackBerry 10 update
BlackBerry announced last year that the BlackBerry PlayBook would get the latest BlackBerry 10 update. The company’s CEO Thorsten Heins even confirmed earlier this year at the BlackBerry 10 launch that they plan to upgrade all existing PlayBooks to BlackBerry 10. Now BlackBerry has announced that it will not be upgrading the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to BlackBerry 10. The CEO confirmed it in the company’s investor call earlier today.
