htc-one-m8-duo-camera-explained

HTC has finally revealed its most awaited flagship phone, the One (M8), at an event in New York today. The flagship phone takes on a countless number of other Android flagship devices with an upgraded design and internals, bringing it up to speed, literally. The new One improves upon the older one in a lot of ways, and one of them is by innovating(again) on the camera side. The original One had the industry’s first Ultrapixel sensor, a 4.1 MP camera with pixels sized at 2 microns, which is back on the new HTC One (M8) but it is also accompanied by a secondary camera. While the Ultrapixel is all about gathering more light, this curious little camera that sits above the main unit enables a whole lot of enhancements that HTC proudly portrayed at their event. So what is this “Duo Camera” all about, and how does it really work? Let’s find out.

HTC M8 – HTC One successor, leaked online with two cameras on the back

Things haven’t really gone HTC’s way since the rise of droids and HTC is trying to pull back things with their premium offerings. Last year, HTC announced their current flagship – HTC One to the delight of many Android lovers. HTC One defined styled in the Android smartphone market and came with an exceptional build quality and aluminum unibody. But the problem with the HTC One was their new UltraPixel technology which din’t harness the results they would have expected. HTC went on to use the same HTC One design and build for the HTC One Mini and HTC One Max. Suddenly we had three similarly built devices lurking in various price ranges.

htc-m8-on-screen-buttons

The HTC One successor, codenamed M8, is all set to be released to the market in a couple of months, as the Taiwanese company plans to repeat its predecessor’s success. One interesting rumour that had persisted all this while was that HTC was finally going for on screen buttons instead of the weird capacitive ones on the HTC One and other devices. According to a leak from one Seina Weibo user, the HTC M8’s one screen buttons, the one you see in the image above, might just have been revealed. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was one of the first devices to incorporate on-screen buttons after the introduction of Android 4.0 for phones and tablets and then the trend caught up with other OEMs like Sony, but HTC curiously avoided it, which might change with the M8.

htc-m8-leaked-pictures-1

The first pictures of the HTC One successor, codenamed M8, have leaked out. If you remember right, the HTC One was codenamed M7 and was similarly leaked well in advance of its official Pre-MWC launch. As expected, the specifications too have been tipped by the source who claims to have seen and taken those above photos of the M8. The obvious inferences we can make from the photos is that HTC will be continuing with the unibody construction that it has been lauded for, but this time, it will be even better, with the body wrapping around the sides too. The colour seems to be the cool Vivid Blue, that the HTC One was recently released in.
