It also has the smartphone features Off-Road mode, that compresses websites images and text on slow connection, Discover that lets you get news from magazines and newspapers, Speed Dial and more. This update also brings bug fixes and various stabilisation and performance improvements for Android devices. Moto X gets Android 4.4 KitKat on Verizon before Nexus 4 OTA

moto-x-unboxing-11As if Moto G wasn’t enough of an indication that Google and its subsidiary Motorola are working closely, today the company announced that its Flagship product – Moto X will be getting an update to Android 4.4 KitKat. This is only for Verizon Wireless customers who have bought the Moto X, but it still is way ahead of the KitKat OTA update that has been evading the Nexus devices so far. The Moto X is a neat little device that runs on stock Android, with a couple of hardware related enhancements like the always listening Google Now and the fact that it is now getting all the Android 4.4 KitKat goodness is a nice gesture from Google/Motorola.

Viber now available for Nokia Asha 308, Asha 310 and Asha 311

Viber cross-platform VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) app is finally available for select Nokia Asha devices, Asha 308, Asha 310 and Asha 311. In addition to voice calls over 3G or WiFi, the app also lets you send messages, photos, location and also supports groups. It also offers notifications for new incoming messages. The app was released for iPhone, and was released for Android in 2011. It was updated to version 4.0 for both Android and iPhone last week that brought Sticker Market, Android Tablet support and more.

Samsung pauses Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 roll out to investigate issues

Earlier this month Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update for the Galaxy S3, directly from Android 4.1.2, skipping the Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) update. Few week after the roll out, Samsung has temporarily suspended the roll out globally to investigate software issues, reports SamMobile. This update bring Galaxy Gear support, improved Samsung Keyboard, new GPU drivers, New S-Voice (from Galaxy S4) and lots. According to the report Samsung would also introduce KNOX security feature for the phone, when they resumes the roll out. Twitter partners with Star Sports to offer in-stream videos on mobile

Starsports.com and Twitter have partnered to offer in-stream videos on starsports.com for Twitter users, without leaving Twitter. As part of the partnership, whenever a link to starsports.com is tweeted, Twitter users on mobile will have the option to download the starsports.com application. Once the mobile application is installed, they will be able to open the app directly by clicking the tweeted link, to watch the video. Android 4.4 KitKat factory images for Nexus 4, 7 and 10 now available

Google started rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 few days back. Now the factory images and binaries for both the WiFi and Cellular versions of the Nexus, Nexus 10 and also for the Nexus 4 are available from the Google developers website. Google already announced that they will not release the Android 4.4 update for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus since Google doesn’t update its Nexus device beyond the 18 month period. My Talking Tom now available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone

Talking Tom, the insanely popular app that kids loved, has now got its own “My Talking Tom” app that lets your pet and grow Tom the cat, hence validating the name. The previous versions only involved playing around with the cat which talks back to you in a hilarious voice but now it’s more of a pet simulation like Kinectimals where a kitten grows into your own cat, with lots of customization options to make it personal. Nokia’s Refocus app now available for download on Lumia PureView Smartphones

Nokia Refocus, the app that lets you focus your photo AFTER you take it, is now available for download on all Nokia Lumia PureView devices. Demoed back at the Nokia event in Abu Dhabi, the app grabbed some major eyeballs when other companies are looking for a hardware implementation of this on their phones. But this is not a hardware solution, it’s just computational photography which uses neat tricks and the immense know-how from Scalado to work some Lytro-like magic and that too, using just an app for Lumia PureView devices. It is now available for download at the Windows Phone Store for the Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and the Lumia 1020 running the Windows Phone 8 Amber update.

Vine for Windows Phone 8 now available for download

Vine, the highly popular video-based social network, finally has made available its app for the Windows Phone platform. Announced back at the Build conference, the app was shown off recently at the Lumia 1520 and 2520 launch event by Nokia, and it was promised that the app will be arriving soon to the platform, someday. Well, that day is today, and the app is finally live on the Windows Phone Store.
