ASUS Transformer pad TF300 is the first non Nexus tablet to receive Android 4.2

ASUS has just announced that the Transformer pad TF300 is receiving the Android 4.2 JellyBean update over the air right now. This entry level Transformer pad was launched in India as the TF300TG, last September. This model too, will be receiving the update, but not immediately, unlike the United States version, which is starting today. Interesting fact is that the TF300 is the first non Nexus Android device to get the Android 4.2 update. So far, the update track record for most ASUS devices has been excellent!

XOLO Q800 with a quad-core processor, Android 4.1 launching this month

XOLO will launch an Android Jelly Bean phone running on quad-core processor by mid-March. Q800 will be the first quad core phone from Xolo this year. Q800 is expected to be tagged within the price range of Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 13,500. The phone will have a 4.5 inch screen. Xolo is expected to launch an entire series of quad core phones under the nomenclature Qcore. Xolo will launch 4 quad-core devices in the next two months. Pantel Technologies has launched T-Pad WS708C, their first Android Tablet with Dual SIM support. It has a 7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. It comes with voice calling support and 3G connectivity through an external dongle. The HCL ME Y3 tablet that was launched in India earlier this year also has dual SIM support. The Croods by Rovio coming to Android, iPhone and iPad on March 14th

Rovio, the creator of the popular Angry Birds has partnered with DreamWorks Animation to launch their new game called The Croods. Rovio released the Angry Birds Rio in partnership for the Fox Digtal Entertaiment back in March 2011. Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots, a movie tie-up game in partnership with DreamWorks was released for iPhone was released back in 2011. Bad Piggies is Rovio’s latest game, after  their totally different puzzle game Amazing Alex. LG LTE smartphone sales cross 10 million units globally

LG Electronics has announced that they have sold more than 10 million LTE smartphones globally. LG announced the Optimus LTE, their first LTE smartphone in Korea back in October 2011, and shipped over 600,000 units in Korea alone in just 100 days after the launch. The global shipments of Optimus LTE crossed the 1 million mark last January. Nokia Lumia 620 gets a pre order price of Rs. 15,199 on Flipkart

The Nokia Lumia 620 has been a long time coming. It was initially slated to be launched on the first week of February but it is already the first week of March, so it is about time it arrived on the market, and signs indicate that it is coming real soon indeed. Flipkart has just put up the phone for pre order at a price of Rs. 15,199, with availability promised within a week.

Photosynth arrives for Windows Phone 8 with a lens app

Photosynth, the 360 degree(horizontal and vertical) photo stitching panorama app that has been there on Windows Phone for quite a while, has finally received an update for Windows Phone 8, with a nice lens app as an addition. Microsoft has been pushing the Photosynth service for a long time with its nice photo stitching capabilities, that are very similar to what you can find in the Android 4.2 camera’s photo sphere application. The Windows Phone 7 version has been there for the Mango devices and above since May 2012 and it is about time that it has been updated for Windows Phone 8, that too with a lens app for the camera.

Sony releases Firefox OS experimental ROM for Xperia E

Sony confirmed that they are working on a Firefox OS device earlier this week. Now they have released a experimental ROM for Xperia E that would let developers try it our and get familiarise with the new OS. The Firefox OS is based on the open web standards that offers every feature in the phone developed as an HTML5 application and the user experience are developed by HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Google has finally brought books to the Google Play Store in India. This would let the users browser, purchase and read from thousands of Indian eBook titles and millions of international eBooks from several categories on the Google Play Store. You can also read the purchased books on Android, iPhone, iPad and on Desktop. These books are competitively priced, and most of the books are priced similar to the Flipkart Flye eBooks and the Amazon Kindle eBooks Store. Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hands On

At its press event in Barcelona, Sony showed off its brand new Android tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Equipped with a gorgeous 10.1″ WUXGA display, the tablet also has Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 built in.

The screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 looks absolutely stunning especially when the Mobile Bravia engine kicks in for photos and videos.
