GSMA puts universal standard for eSIM in hold over U.S. probe

Telecommunications standards organization; GSMA is currently developing a universal standard for eSIM that will be deployed globally. Google and a large number of global operators are collaborating to accelerate the availability of Rich Communications Services (RCS) on Android devices. The global operator include América Móvil, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Deutsche Telekom, Etisalat, Globe Telecom, KPN, Millicom, MTN, Orange, PLAY, Smart Communications, Sprint, Telenor Group, TeliaSonera, Telstra, TIM, Turkcell, VimpelCom, Vodafone, the GSMA.

GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2014 Winners announced, HTC, Nokia win awards

The GSM Association has announced the winners for the 19th annual Global Mobile Awards at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Last year the Galaxy S3 bagged the award, this year HTC One was awarded the best smartphone of the year, even though it had tough contenders such as Samsung Galaxy Note 3, iPhone 5S, Nokia Lumia 1020 and the LG G2. Nokia bagged two awards, the Lumia 520 bagged the award for the best low-cost smartphone of the year, competing with phones like Sony Xperia E and Samsung Galaxy Young. Nokia 105 won for the best entry-level or feature phone of the year. GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2013 Winners announced


The GSM Association has announced the winners for the 18th annual Global Mobile Awards at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The nominees for the Global Mobile Awards 2013 were announced earlier this month. Even though the Apple for iPhone 5 was a tough contender  in the best smartphone segment, the Samsung Galaxy S3 bagged the Best Smartphone of the Year award. Google Nexus 7 grabbed the Best Mobile Tablet of the year award beating the iPad and the iPad mini, and the Nokia Asha 305 won the best entry-level / feature phone award. NFC goes mainstream at the GSMA MWC 2013, Barcelona

Get ready Android and Windows Phone 8 users/attendees, the GSM association has sought to bring NFC into the mainstream at the Mobile World Congress 2013, Barcelona. And yes, Apple iPhone users will be left out of this huge initiative. There will be NFC posters, booths, experience centers and even NFC based registration at the Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest mobile convention that is slated to happen between February 25 – 28 2013 this year.
