Vivo APEX 2019 with Snapdragon 855, 12GB RAM, 5G, full-screen fingerprint, unibody 3D design without ports or buttons announced

Vivo just announced APEX 2019, the company’s latest concept phone in China, as it had promised. This doesn’t have any ports or buttons, similar to the Meizu Zero that was introduced yesterday, but this has a curved glass design instead of the ceramic back on the Meizu phone. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack, repleaces physical buttons with pressure-sensitive power and volume buttons and also doesn’t have an USB port, instead it relies on a magnetic port that connects to the bottom part of the back cover for charging and data transfer.

Huawei Balong 5000 5G multi-mode modem with up to 6.5Gbps download speeds announced, 5G smartphones arriving at MWC 2019

Huawei at an event in China announced  Balong 5000, 5G multi-mode chipset and Huawei 5G CPE Pro. The Balong 5000  supports  smartphones, home broadband devices, vehicle-mounted devices, and 5G modules. The company says that it is the world’s first single-chip multi-mode modem that supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G.

Apple hires Samsung’s battery executive Soonho Ahn to lead its work

Apple has hired Soonho Ahn executive from Samsung SDI Co., which is the battery making affiliate of Samsung Electronics Co. Meizu Zero with in-display fingerprint sensor, waterproof unibody 3D design without ports or buttons announced

Meizu has announced Zero, the company’s latest top-end smartphone with an unique design that gets rid of all the ports and buttons ahead of the Vivo APEX 2019 announcement tomorrow. This gets rid of the 3.5mm audio jack, which is not surprising, but this also doesn’t have a USB Type-C port, instead it only relies on custom designed 18W wirless fast charging. The company says that uses have to rely on Bluetooth for wireless audio listening.
