OnePlus is working on its first Smart TV with premium flagship design, image quality, audio and seamless user experience

OnePlus just announced that it is working on its first Smart TV. The company said that it aims to take home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. The TV will have OnePlus’ premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home. OnePlus Founder and CEO, Pete Lau, will lead the new division alongside the existing smartphone division.

OnePlus also said that this will address gaps in the television industry, balancing high-quality hardware with the latest in technology, developing a seamless user experience, and crafting hardware that is minimalistic and timeliness in design.

“The world has come to know and love OnePlus for its user-centric values and design philosophy which OnePlus will continue to apply across its new television division,” the company added.

Similar to its smartphones, OnePlus will be asking for feedback and suggestions from the users about what should be included in its new Smart TV. For starters, it is asking people to name their TV, just like it did for its OxygenOS ROM. You can suggest a name for the OnePlus TV here .

OnePlus team will choose their favorite 10 suggestions on October 31st, and each of them will receive a pair of OnePlus Bullets Wireless. One winner will be announced before December 17th, 2018, and that will become the official name of the OnePlus TV. Winner will also get the TV.  This makes it clear that we can’t expect the TV until later this year or early 2019.

Pete Lau, OnePlus Founder and CEO, said:

I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus. As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome. We bring inherent advantages to the industry, and with this new division, we’re excited to explore the total connected user experience that can enhance everyday life.

For most of us, there are four major environments we experience each day: the home, the workplace, the commute, and being on-the-move. The home – perhaps the most important environment experience – is just starting to enjoy the benefits of intelligent connectivity. Something that seems as simple as displaying the photos from your mobile phone to a television is still difficult to achieve. With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless – and we are looking forward to the future.
