German Watchdog blocks Facebook from merging user data without consent

Germany’s competition watchdog; the Bundeskartellamt has imposed “far-reaching” restrictions on Facebook’s data collection and sharing. Facebook unsurprisingly plans to appeal. The watchdog said that Facebook should not combine or collect user data third-party websites and assign them to user accounts without users’ consent. Twitter reports $909 million revenue, 24% YoY growth and 126 million monetizable daily active users in Q4 2018

Twitter, Inc. has announced financial results for its fourth quarter of 2018 which had total revenue of $909 million, an increase of 24% year-over-year. The company’s advertising revenue totaled $791 million, an increase of 23% year-over-year. Twitter’s total ad engagements increased 33% year-over-year and the cost per engagement decreased 7% year-over-year. Facebook and Instagram to no longer allow graphic images that promote self-harm

Facebook and Instagram have shared updates on how it enforces policies against self-harm or suicide on the platform. The company since 2016 has built its approach with experts in suicide prevention. These experts unanimously reaffirmed that Facebook should allow users to share admissions of self-harmed suicidal thoughts, but should not allow people to share content promoting it. Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 10nm Mobile Platform brings 10% performance improvement across gaming, browsing and more

Qualcomm has announced  Snapdragon 712, the company’s latest SoC in the new 700 series and the successor of Snapdragon 710 that was introduced last year. It is built on the same power-efficient 10nm process technology, is based on Kryo 360 architecture and has Adreno 616 GPU, however the company promises 10% performance uplift across gaming, web browsing and more since the CPU is clocked up to 2.3GHz compared to up to 2.2GHz in the predecessor. Motorola has finally announced the Moto G7 series – G7, G7 Plus, G7 Power and G7 Play smartphones at an event in Brazil, as it had promised. The Moto G7 and the G7 Plus have a 6.2-inch Max Vision Full HD+ display and 3D glass back. The top-end G7 Plus is powered by Snapdragon 636, while the others are powered by Snapdragon 632. All the phones have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C Port and a water-repellent design that protects against accidental spills, sweat, and light rain.
