Asus just launched the Zenfone AR smartphone in India as it had promised. It is compatible with both Tango AR platform and Google’s Daydream VR platform and was announced as the world’s first smartphone with 8GB of RAM. It has a 23-megapixel main camera with a motion tracking camera and a depth sensing camera that supports Tango’s AR capabilities. Gionee has rolled out a new over-the-air (OTA) update for A1 users that adds several new features, including option to take panoramic images using the front camera. This was previously restricted only to rear camera, now you take a panoramic group selfies easily covering a lot of people in a frame. Facebook launched Messenger Lite app for Android for emerging markets such as Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela back in October last year. In April this year it was launched in 132 more countries including Germany, Colombia, Italy, Vietnam, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Turkey, Japan, Taiwan and the Netherlands, but India was not in the list. Huawei’s Honor brand launched its flagship Honor 8 Pro smartphone in India last week. It went on sale through Amazon.in during Prime Day sale along with offers. From tomorrow, July 13th, the phone will be available through open sale exclusively from Amazon.in. Honor said that it will be available with no cost EMI for a period of 3, 6, 9 or 12 months via Bajaj Finserv. Vodafone offers 45GB data for five months. These offers would be available for purchases made during July 13, 2017 to July 31, 2017.

FoneArena first reported about the massive data leak of over 120 million users of Reliance Jio users on Sunday. Now, a latest report from Reuters states that police have detained a suspect in western Indian state of Rajasthan. The man is suspected to be involved in leaking personal data of over 120 million Jio users to a website named “Magicapk.com”.

Xiaomi just sent out invites for the launch of its next Mi smartphone in India on July 18th. The invite says “Last year, we made ripples with this new category and now it is back. Join us in witnessing the return on ‘BIG’ at Xiaomi media briefing” that clearly hints at the launch of Mi Max 2, successor of last year’s Mi Max.
