Samsung seems to be trying their best to keep their phones up to date and to remove the bad reputation of releasing slow updates. They have now released the February security patch for their flagship products just a few weeks after the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow began rolling out for some phones.

This year at MWC, we saw LG and Samsung go head to head with their new flagships, the G5 and Galaxy S7/S7 Edge respectively. One of the many things that the handsets have in common is that they will be having a Snapdragon 820 variant. However, it seems that while Samsung will be offering a similarly high end Exynos 8890 chipset in other regions, LG will opt for a lower end processor to power its flagship instead.

Google has updated Inbox by Gmail app with two new features. Last year Inbox got custom snooze time option so that users can set up custom times for morning, afternoon, and evening snooze. Now the app has received two time-saving improvements. Google said that these new Snooze options have been added based on feedback from users. WhatsApp has announced that it will stop supporting BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10, Symbian S60 and few other older platforms by the end of this year. WhatsApp turned seven years old last week. “As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use,” said the company. Facebook started testing the live video feature for iPhone users in December last year and the feature rolled out to all iPhone users last month. Today, Facebook has announced that Android users will get the live video feature starting next week. More than 50% of people watching live videos are using Android devices, so it is finally bringing the feature to Android, as it had promised.

Microsoft has officially confirmed that it is shutting down Project Astoria tool that allowed developers to port their existing Android apps to Windows 10 easily. The company had announced its plans to launch tools for developers to quickly port Android and iOS apps to Windows 10 earlier this April.
LG unveiled its flagship G5 smartphone with a modular design along with Friends companion devices at the MWC in Barcelona earlier this week.
