Sony has announced the Xperia Z4, the company’s latest flagship at an event in Japan. It has the same 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display similar to the Z3, but this is powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 810 processor. It runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and is just 6.9mm thick. It has Sony’s Omni balance design with glass back and aluminium frame. New photos have surfaced of a handset that could very well be the Sony XPERIA Z4 as it looks very similar to what we’ve seen in the past photos rumoured to be that of the Z4. In the images, Sony has referred to the phone as XPERIA Z Fourth Generation. We are not sure if this means that Sony is planning to change it’s naming scheme. Perhaps instead of having Z2, Z3, Z4 etc they will name their handsets XPERIA Z Generation 4, 5 etc. Perhaps it is to make things simpler as they plan on releasing just one flagship phone per year compared to their previous cycle of two phones per year.

Sony has launched Xperia E4g Dual, the company’s latest 4G smartphone in India. It was announced back in February ahead of MWC and packs a 4.7-inch qHD IPS display, is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6732 64-bit SoC and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also have NFC support. Sony launched the Xperia E4 dual smartphone in India last month.

Sony has announced that It has started rolling out Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update (v23.1.A.0.690) for Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra smartphones. It rolled out Lollipop update for Sony Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet last week. It already promised to update Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra smartphones. Sony has started rolling out Android 5.0 (Lollipop) update (v23.1.A.0.690) for both the Sony Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet. The update is also available in India, according to the official Sony India support page. It started rolling out for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact last month, but the update is yet to roll out for Indian units. Sony Xperia Z4 has surfaced in live images on a Vietnamese website. This shows the smartphone featuring Omnibalance design language, similar to the Xperia Z3. These live images coincide with the unofficial renders of the smartphone that appeared a few weeks back.

Sony Xperia Z4 has been leaked in new renders by @Onleaks that shows the smartphone in several angles. According to him these images are unofficial 3D renderings of how the smartphone would look like based on unfinished versions of the smartphone, according to his source. The design of the smartphone doesn’t differ from the company’s Omnibalance design language in the Xperia Z3, but location of the ports are different. Sony is shutting down PlayStation Mobile platform. The company has already shut down PlayStation Mobile for Android late last year, announcing that devices on Android 5.0 would not be able to access the content store.
