LG unveiled Optimus L1 II Tri (E475) with triple SIM support last week. Now the Samsung Galaxy Trios has been spotted on the official Samsung Brazil website. It has a 3.14-inch (320 x 240 pixels) TFT screen, powered by a 1 GHz single-core Qualcommm Snapdragon MSM7225A processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own Touchwiz UI on top. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera without flash. Most of the specifications are similar to the Galaxy Star, but this has 3G connectivity and also has Samsung’s Always ON triple SIM support. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 to be priced reasonably

Samsung launched their first smart watch – Samsung Galaxy Gear back in IFA 2013 alongside their current flagship – Galaxy Note 3. A couple of weeks remain for MWC 2014 and there are clear indications that Samsung will unveil their next generation Galaxy S series flagship – Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014. Apart from the obvious fact, Samsung is also rumored to be launching their next version of smart watch – Galaxy Gear 2 at MWC 2014.

Samsung partners with Tata Motors to bring Drive Link infotainment system to cars

At the ongoing Auto Expo, Samsung and Tata Motors have announced a tie up to bring closer integration between smartphones and automobiles. The collaboration revolves around bringing Samsung’s Drive Link application to Tata’s fleet of vehicles. A derivative of MirrorLink technology, it will let users duplicate their smartphone interface on an in car display and use it for navigation, media access as well as to answer calls. Samsung and Cisco come together for a 10 year cross license deal

A few days back, Samsung and Google signed a 10 year deal for licensing patents and last week, Google and Cisco signed a cross license agreement. To complete the love triangle, Samsung and Cisco are now signing a deal for cross licensing.

Samsung partners with Swarovski for a limited edition Galaxy Note 3 Crystal cover

Samsung has partnered with Swarovski, popular for its crystal and fashion jewelry to launch a limited-edition cover encrusted with Swarovski crystals for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Samsung introduced the Galaxy S4 Crystal edition few months back, but they have planned to sell a crystal cover for the Note 3 separately. Recently Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 3 in Rose Gold White, Rose Gold Black and Merlot Red colors, in addition to Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink colors. Samsung Huron Windows Phone 8.1 specifications leaked?

samsung-windows-phone-8-1-huronSamsung will still be making Windows Phones, if the previously leaked press image of its first Windows Phone 8.1 device is to be believed. Codenamed “Huron”, the Samsung made Windows Phone will be a sequel to the ATIV S that coincided with the launch of WP8, the big reboot to Microsoft’s fast growing platform. But Samsung hasn’t announced any device since, so at this moment, this leak comes more as a surprise than the usual expected ones. Curiously though, the render, leaked by evleaks, shows off a device that looks exactly like the ATIV or a Galaxy, but misses the camera button on the side, which used to be mandatory for Windows Phone. And of course, the screen is “off” so we are not able to get a glimpse of Windows Phone 8.1 either, which evleaks claims the phone is running on. But there are more details.

Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, TabPRO 12.2, TabPRO 10.1 and TabPRO 8.4 tablets with  WQXGA (2560 x 1600) displays and Android 4.4 (Kitkat) at the CES 2014  last month. These tablets are available for pre-order from Office Depot, Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon and more retailers in the US and would go on sale on February 13th, just in time for the Valentine’s day. Samsung SM-W750V “Huron” images leaked, could be Samsung’s first WP 8.1 device

Samsung Ativ S was Samsung’s first Windows Phone 8 device and it barely saw the launch because of various problems. Many thought Samsung was out of the Windows Phone business as there were no devices, but things are about to change. Samsung is preparing a Full HD high end smartphone running on Windows Phone 8.1 for Verizon.

Samsung schedules Unpacked event for Feb 24th to unveil Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung is expected to announce the next iteration of Galaxy S series sometime soon and there were early rumors that Samsung will be holding an event on Feb 23rd, but it turns out that they are holding the unpacked event on Feb 24th, just on the starting day of MWC 2014. The event invite tells us that this is Samsung’s Unpacked event 5 and it also mentions it as episode 1. The event will take place in Barcelona.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini go Black with faux leather back

Samsung Galaxy S4 was announced last year and it is all set to be replaced by the Samsung Galaxy S5 which is rumored to arrive on February 23rd. Samsung unveiled various editions of the Samsung Galaxy S4 – Gold Edition, Crystal Edition and now, we have the black edition. What the black edition does is that it comes with a faux leather back that featured in Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

It has a 5.5-inch HD Super AMOLED screen, powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core or a Hexa-Core processor (1.7 GHz Dual Core Cortex A15+ 1.3 GHz Quad Core Cortex A7) and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Samsung launches Educational Galaxy Tab in the US

Samsung goes after Apple’s business again. This time, Samsung follows Apple into the educational domain where the presence of Apple’s iPad seems to have increased. Apple’s iPads have a lot of content in the educational domain and with the ever expanding iTunes Textbooks and iTunes U Course Manager, it justifies the demand of tablets in the educational domain. Samsung has spotted a way to increase its tablet market share and has announced a tablet with a special focus on educational content.

Samsung, Sony top trusted brands in India

Samsung has finally replaced Nokia as India’s Most Trusted Brand, according to a recent survey conducted by research firm Trust Research Advisory (TRA). Nokia, which continued to retain the first position in Brand Trust Report 2011, 2012 and 2013 has been pushed to 5th spot. Sony moved one spot up from 2013, to the 2nd place. LG moved 6 places up from last year to 4th spot. As you can see on the table below, Nokia is the only company in the Mobile Phone category since Samsung, Sony and LG come under consumer electronics category, even though they are popular for their smartphones.

Samsung to roll out 60 stores across Europe, in collaboration with Carphone Warehouse

Carphone Warehouse, one of the largest retailers with over 1700 stores in Europe, is entering into a crucial partnership with Samsung, in which it will operate 60 new Samsung exclusive stores across Europe, as a “preferred partner”. This is also an interesting development for Samsung, as this deal will massively improve the retail foot print in all the Android-loving parts of Europe. These new 60 stores will be Samsung exclusive experiences, with Carphone Warehouse contributing its part with retail experience and run Samsung’s stores with what it calls “Carphone Warehouse’s assisted sales tool and connectivity platform”, all with Samsung tablets.

Samsung Life Times – a new app under development for Samsung devices

Samsung is known to release new flagship devices along with a lot of software features and gimmicks. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI is one of the heaviest skins in terms of RAM consumption and it comes with a lot of default apps that you cannot uninstall. According to the rumor mill, Samsung’s TouchWiz reportedly getting a big overhaul alongside the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5. But just a couple of days back, Google and Samsung entered into an agreement for patents and Samsung may be toning down on the TouchWiz to make it more Google like.
