We have seen Samsung use the Neo branding for many of its mid range phones but it seems like they will be affixing it to popular high end models too. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which looks like a cheaper Note 3 in the making has just been revealed, with full specifications in tow thanks to leaked internal documents acquired by GSMArena. Samsung has a habit of refreshing older models with new names and slightly refreshed specs and that seems to be exactly what’s happening here. The Galaxy Note 3 Neo is basically a Note 2 with some modifications underneath, with one of the major changes being the processor. According to the leak, the Note 3 neo will have the first Hexa Core big.LITTLE Exynos processor inside, which might make things interesting.

As you can see above from the leaked image, the specifications of the Note 3 neo largely resemble the Note 2. If you find it hard to read, here is the complete list of specifications –

  • 8.6mm thick, 151.1mm tall
  • 5.55″ HD sAMOLED screen with 1280×720 resolution
  • Android 4.3 JellyBean
  • 8 MP rear camera and 1.9 MP front facing camera
  • 1.7 GHz Dual Core + 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor
  • 3100 mAH battery
  • 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage w/ micro SD expansion slot
  • BT 4.0/ USB 3.0 port
  • New S-Pen features that came with the Note 3

Apart from the similarities, the stylus support on the Note 3 Neo will reportedly be equally capable as the Note 3 as it incorporates the same new S-Pen. We’ll never know if the Note 2 will get Android 4.4, let alone Android 4.3, so the Note 3 neo might be Samsung’s way of telling you to pony up and buy a newer Note, but at least now they have a similar option rather than asking you to buy the higher priced flagship. One of the good things though, is the fact that the faux leather back will be making an appearance here too. We have been seeing Samsung bring that to most of its devices ever since the Note 3, and the Neo is no exception. We loved it on the Note 3 and there is no reason we wouldn’t like it on the Note 3 Neo too.
