Samsung, Sony top trusted brands in India

Samsung has finally replaced Nokia as India’s Most Trusted Brand, according to a recent survey conducted by research firm Trust Research Advisory (TRA). Nokia, which continued to retain the first position in Brand Trust Report 2011, 2012 and 2013 has been pushed to 5th spot. Sony moved one spot up from 2013, to the 2nd place. LG moved 6 places up from last year to 4th spot. As you can see on the table below, Nokia is the only company in the Mobile Phone category since Samsung, Sony and LG come under consumer electronics category, even though they are popular for their smartphones.

All India Brand Trust Report 2014 Personal Gadgets

Micromax has moved up 74 places and holds 45th rank. In the personal gadgets category Micromax holds the second spot behind Nokia, and BlackBerry holds the 3rd spot as the most trusted brand. New entrant Xolo holds 15th rank in the personal gadgets category and its overall ranking in BTR 2014 is 280. Check out the entire list of brands in the personal gadgets category here.

Coming to the Telecom sector, Airtel has moved down from last year 9th place to 64th place this year. Vodafone and Idea have moved to 20 and 21 rankings, respectively. MTS has moved 133 places up from last year and holds 93rd Rank this year. From last year’s 123rd spot, Aircel is down to 309th rank this year.  Check out the list of rankings in the telecom category here.

The fourth series of Brand Trust Report was conducted on the proprietary 61-Attribute Trust Matrix of TRA (formerly known as Trust Research Advisory). This year’s study covered 2500 consumer-influencers across 16 cities in India, which generated 5 million datapoints and 20000 unique brands from which the top 1200 brands have been listed. These brands have been classified into 284 different categories as against 213 categories in 2013.
