Lava has announced the Jelly Bean update for their Android smartphone, the Iris 501 (also known as Iris N501). It was launched earlier this year for Rs. 9,999, now the phone is available for Rs. 7,999. The Iris 501 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and company launched the Iris 502 recently for Rs. 8,499 that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, which is now available for Rs. 7,499. HTC launched the HTC One, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone in India earlier this week. We brought you the unboxing of the device last month. Here we have the benchmarks of the device. The HTC One has a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It out performs all the current quad-core smartphones in all the benchmarks.

Micromax Funbook Talk P360 went on sale online earlier this week for Rs. 7,049. Now the Micromax Funbook Talk P362 is up for sale from online reatiler Saholic in India. Even though it has a 7-inch (480 x 800 pixels) capacitive touch screen display and voice calling support through the SIM card slot, similar to the P360, it has a slightly better single-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Other features are similar including a 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera, 1 GB RAM and a 3000 mAh battery. Celkon launched the A119 Signature HD last month for Rs. 13,499. We brought you unboxing of the Celkon A119 earlier this week, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The Celkon A119 packs a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display at 295 PPI, powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor clocked at 1 GHz with PowerVR SGX 531 GPU and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). We reviewed the Xolo A1000 recently which has a similar processor and a HD display. Let’s see how the device performs in the benchmark tests.

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 has a 5.8-inch qHD (960 x 540 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. similar to the Galaxy Mega 6.3. It also has dual SIM support with dual Standby and dual SIM Always On feature.

The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is the high-end device in this series that has a 6.3-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) TFT capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8MP auto-focus rear camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 MP front-facing camera. This phone lies between the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note 2 and the 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 / Galaxy Tab 2 310. Huawei unveiled the Ascend Mate with a 6.1-inch HD display at CES 2013 earlier this year. It has a 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, BSI sensor,  and a 3.2MP front-facing camera. Most of the specifications are similar to the Micromax A116 Canvas HD. The company launched the Ultraphone U4, a budget Android smartphone earlier this year. Cinemagram, one of the popular iPhone apps is finally available for Android. This app lets you  record a short looping 4s video, apply effects and share the GIFs to Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. It has likes, comments, hashtags and more just like Instagram that was launched for Android last year. The Micromax A72 surfaced online earlier this week, and went on sale online couple of days back. It packs a 5-inch (480 x 800 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz single-core MediaTek MT6515 processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). LG LTE smartphone sales cross 5 million units in Korea

LG has announced that they have sold more than 10 million LTE smartphones in their home ground Korea. Last month the company announced that their LTE smartphone sales have cross 10 million units globally. LG announced the Optimus LTE, their first LTE smartphone in Korea back in October 2011, and shipped over 600,000 units in Korea alone in just 100 days after the launch. The global shipments of Optimus LTE crossed the 1 million mark last January. We are currently at a stage in which screen sizes of phones have become obnoxiously huge and whenever a manufacturer releases its flagship, it’s almost a certainty that it is going to be bigger than the previous flagship. This is the trend, and some people were sick of it, including some of us. So, when Samsung announced the Galaxy S3 mini, it was supposed to be the S3 for people with smaller hands, and for people who were just sick of huge screens.
