Sony has launched the Xperia SP, the company’s latest Android smartphone in the Xperia range in India. It was announced last month and packs a  4.6-inch 720p HD Reality Display with with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960Pro processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). Magicon Q7 with 4.6-inch display, 1 GHz dual-core processor launched for Rs. 8999


Magicon has launched the UltraSmart Q7 in India. It was teased earlier this week. It has a 4.63-inch  (854 ×480 pixels) FWVGA capacitive touch sceen display, powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It has a 8-megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera. Google Play v4.0 announced, brings redesigned UI

Google has announced the new Play Store for Android smartphones and Tablets. The new Google Play version 4.0.25 is a major update from the current version 3.10.14. This update brings a redesigned Holo-inspired user interface with new fonts, bigger images and lots more. This update also lets you discover things faster. iBall has launched Slide 6309i, a new tablet in the Slide series. It has a 7-inch (1024 x 600 pixels) display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It has a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. iBall launched the Edu-Slide i1017 with a 10.1-inch HD IPS display last month. The HCL ME Y3 and the Byond Mi-book Mi7 has similar features, but both these tablets run on Android 4.0 and come with 3G support and voice calling features.

Acer’s upcoming tablet, Iconia A1-810 has been spotted on a french retail site. It has a 7.9-inch (1024 x 768 pixels) IPS  display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA (0.3MP) front-facing camera. Acer launched the Iconia B1 with a 7-inch display and a dual-core Mediatek processor in India earlier this year. HTC One X and One X+ get a price cut, now available for Rs. 25999 and Rs. 28999

HTC has cut the price of the One X and the One X+ in India, which are now available for Rs. 25999 and Rs. 28999 respectively. This is a huge price drop for both these smartphones since the launch, and this might due to the launch of the HTC One, the company’s latest flagship. The HTC One X was launched in India at Rs. 37,899 (MOP) last April and the HTC One X+ was launched last November for Rs 40,190. No details about the price cut for the HTC Butterfly, that was launched in India earlier this year at a price tag of Rs. 45,990. Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Mega 6.3 specifications surface

Samsung Galaxy Mega line of Android smartphones, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 (GT-I9152) and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 were rumored earlier this month. Now, Sammobile is said to have confirmed specifications of these two devices. The Mega 5.8 is expected to have a  5.8-inch qHD TFT display, and the Mega 6.3 is expected to come with a 6.3-inch HD PLS display. Both these phones would run on Android 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Samsung’s own Nature UX on top. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 would have dual SIM support, and looks like a souped up version of the Galaxy Grand Duos, that we reviewed recently.

Micromax A72 Canvas Viva that surfaced online yesterday, is now available from online retailer Snapdeal. It has a 5-inch (480 x 800 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, 1 GHz single-core processor and runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). It ccomes with 2G (EDGE) support, has a 3-megapixel camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Micromax had already launched the Canvas A100 and it’s successor A110 Canvas 2 A110 last year with a 5-inch display. The A116 Canvas HD is the company’s latest flagship that was launched earlier this year.

Micromax is all set to launch the A72 Canvas Viva, dual SIM Android smartphone with a 5-inch display. It has been spotted on Flipkart. Even though this has a large 5-inch (480 x 800 Pixels) capacitive touch screen display, it has a 1 GHz single-core processor, runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and comes with 2G (EDGE) support. It has a 3MP camera without flash and a 0.3 MP front-facing camera. This would be a budget version of the Micromax A100 and it’s successor Micromax A110, that were launched last year.

Facebook Home, the launcher aimed at overtaking your Android phone has just leaked out in a half baked beta release. We took it for a spin on our Google Nexus 4, and found it to be quite buggy, but using the UI for the first time was a fresh experience. So, what do we think about the Facebook home? Will it change your mind about Facebook on mobile? Should you go for Facebook home, if you are a heavy user? We will try to answer them in our initial hands on impressions, past the video below –

Facebook announced the Facebook Home last week that comes pre-installed with the HTC First. It is expected to launch on Google Play for select Android devices on April 12th, but the pre-release version has been leaked ahead online. The Facebook Home is an Android Launcher with Cover feed that offers photos and updates from your newsfeed, Notifications, Chat Heads, App Launcher to launch Facebook apps and more. HTC has launched the HTC One, the company’s latest flagship Android smartphone in India. It was announced back in February and packs a 4.7 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor and runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense UI and HTC BlinkFeed. It has an UltraPixel camera on the back with LED Flash and a 2.1MP HD front-facing camera with 88 wide angle lens with HDR capability. It has a Metal Unibody Design, comes with Beats audio support, HTC Sense TV app with program guide and remote control, Dual frontal stereo speakers with built-in amplifiers and dual microphones. Intex launched the Aqua Wonder, a dual SIM smartphone with a dual-core processor couple of months back. Now Intex is all set to launch the Aqua Wonder Quad Core with a quad-core processor, which is listed on Flipkart as coming soon. Other features would remain the same including a 4.5-inch (960 x 540 pixels) Capacitive touch screen IPS display, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), 8-megapixel auto focus rear camera with dual LED flash. It would have a 2MP front-facing ccamera instead of 1.3 MP front-facing camera in the Aqua Wonder. This would compete with the Xolo Q800 that was launched last month. Samsung Galaxy Win that was recently unveiled in China has been officially announced for global markets. It has a 4.7-inch (800 x 480 Pixels) TFT display, run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) with Touchwiz UI and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It has a 5MP Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3MP (VGA) front-facing camera. It comes in single SIM and dual SIM variants. The Samsung Galaxy Win Duos has dual SIM support with dual standby and dual SIM Always On feature, similar to the Galaxy Grand Duos that we reviewed recently.
