Sony confirms Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for range of Xperia devices, No Jelly Bean for 2011 Xperia devices

Sony Mobile has confirmed the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for range of Xperia devices. Sony has also said that they have started shipping Xperia T and Xperia TX for the global markets, and the Xperia V would ship soon. These three phones would be the first to get the update in mid-Q1 2013. Sony started rolling out ICS update for the Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia Go recently. Earlier this August Sony said that the 2011 Xperia devices might get the Jelly Bean update, but now they have confirmed that those devices that got the Android 4.0.4 update would not be upgraded beyond Ice Cream Sandwich.

List of Xperia devices that would get Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update

  • Xperia T
  • Xperia TX
  • Xperia V
  • Xperia S
  • Xperia acro S
  • Xperia ion
  • Xperia P
  • Xperia go
  • Xperia J

Xperia U is not in the list, which might be disappointing for the users. Sony did not reveal the exact time-frame for the roll out for these devices, looks like we have to wait for few months for more details. The roll out might vary across different carriers and countries.
