Indian smartphone manufacturer, Byond, has today launched its latest Android powered smartphone. Called the Byond B63, the phone is powered by a 1.2Ghz dual core processor which we can assume to be a MediaTek chip like in other smartphones in this category. The phone runs Android 4.1.1 Jellybean, which means you get to enjoy Google Now and the benefits of Project Butter. There’s built in Dual SIM support as well which lets you keep two SIM cards in active standby.
We bumped into the team from Texas Instruments at the MobileFocus Global event last night. Texas Instruments takes us through some of their products at MWC 2012 and explains why optimization is more important than having faster processor and more cores.
nVIDIA were the first to introduce a quadcore processor to the consumers with the ASUS Transformer Prime, and now it has become first to introduce them on smartphones too. At MWC 2012 which is going on right now, there are many devices which are being powered by nVIDIA’s Tegra 3 Quadcore processor including HTC’s One X, LG Optimus 4X HD, ZTE Era, K-Touch Treasure v8 and Fujitsu’s smartphone.
HTC is going to be one of the headliners to showcase their devices at MWC this year, they will be showcasing the HTC One series of mobile phones and maybe a couple tablets too. We already know about the HTC One X which will be the first quadcore phone running on Tegra 3. There was no news about the other two One S and One V but now due to some benchmarking done in Nenamark we have come to know some specs of the One S.
People have been talking about nVIDIA and Tegra 3 from the beginning of this year, last year they were the first chip manufacturers to bring out dual core chips and now this year they are again the first ones to bring out Quadcores. Though the vision and the chipset architecture is really great there have been some problems in nVIDIA’s camp and we have come to know that there is a shortage and it will affect nVIDA in a big way.
We all have been hearing about the quadcore Exynos which might feature in the Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung mentioned in their earnings call today that currently they are sampling the Exynos 5250 SoC and will probably start the mass production for their devices from Q2 2012 on wards if everything goes right.
The first two Galaxy flagships – the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II have had great success and Samsung are doing their best to make sure the next generation Galaxy flagship will grab everyone’s attention as well.
Many devices are being launched at the IFA, we just saw a parade of new Samsung devices, now it is the time for Toshiba to reveal their Android Honeycomb running tablet AT200. At 7.7 mm thin, this is the thinnest tablet running Android, thinner than Samsung’s Galaxy Tab by 1 mm.
The Sensation is HTC’s first Dual Core phone and it’s answer to the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the LG Optimus 2X. ARCHOS is well known for its cheap devices, but this time they have managed to come up with two tablets which are not only cheap but are really fast, 250 GB Seagate HDD, Android 3.1 Honeycomb Android market place and Google mobile app support. ARCHOS unveils the 8” 80 G9 tablet and the 10.1” 101 G9 powered by a 1.5 GHz dual core processor. These devices have it all!
Motorola Atrix 4G is Motorola’s first ever dual-core device rocking on Nvidia Tegra 2 processor. Atrix 4G is for sure an amazing device with some good specs and it’s currently exclusive to AT&T in USA. AT&T recently dropped the price of it and made it available for only $99 on contract which was actually good news for people who were looking forward to it.
