Shipments of LTE smartphones in India grew by 2400% anually in Q3 2015: Report

The year 2015 saw a 20% increase in the number of smartphone shipments in India and a subsequent increase of 12% during Q3 2015. However, the more interesting statistic is that the shipment of LTE smartphones in India alone grew by 2400% annually.

Lenovo K3 Note vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G – What’s Different?

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G can brag about being one of the first cheap phablets on the Indian market to come out with 4G support. It was announced in November last year and made available at the end of December for a price of Rs 9,999. Since then, Xiaomi has seen good success with it as many people have purchased the smartphone for its features as well as its 4G capability at a low price. Since then, many manufacturers have tried to follow the same mantra and launched their own devices at similar prices and packing similar features. The price of the Redmi Note 4G has been reduced to Rs 7,999 last month but since then Lenovo has hit the market with the K3 Note which also retails at a price of Rs 9,999 which was the original asking rate for the Redmi Note 4G. Although it is costlier, it does offer a few improvements and unique features that probably justify the price. Let’s take a look at the specifications and features of both the devices.

Microsoft rolling out firmware update to enable 4G support for some Lumia phones in India

Microsoft India is currently rolling out a minor software update to select Lumia devices to support 4G LTE networks. As Airtel continues to roll out its 4G service across the country Microsoft saw the need to enable 4G radios on devices which have the functionality built into the hardware but lacked the necessary software. So if you are using a Microsoft or Nokia Lumia device which has support for 4G globally, you should update your device to make the jump to 4G. Sony XPERIA M4 Aqua Dual Review

Typically every year at MWC, Sony announces a new Z series smartphone and many were expecting to see a Sony XPERIA Z4 launched at MWC this year. Well yes, now we do have a Z4/Z3+ however Sony didn’t leave the announcements dry at MWC. What we got from them is the Sony XPERIA M4 Aqua which is the first smartphone from Sony that is waterproof yet has an unprotected microUSB port. The new Z4/Z3+ do adopt a similar method but it first came out with the M4 Aqua. The M4 Aqua which is the successor of the first M2 Aqua (Weird naming scheme I agree) was launched as a dual SIM variant here in India. So in this review we will be taking a look at the Sony XPERIA M4 Aqua Dual to see how well it performs as a smartphone. Whether or not it is a worthy successor to the M2 Aqua and whether it is worth its price.

Airtel is launching 4G services in Delhi and NCR this week

India’s leading private telecom operator Airtel is all set to launch 4G trials in the country’s capital city New Delhi and adjoining areas later this week. Airtel bought the spectrum from Qualcomm some time back. The 4G network is expected to go live in New Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) in a few days.

Vodafone Ireland launches 4G+ (LTE Advanced)

India Data Card shipment hits 6.72 million units as of June 2014: Report

India Data Card market registered an annual shipment of 6.72 million units for the year ending June 2014, according to a report from 6Wresearch. The India Data Card market which was previously commanded by the CDMA segment is now witnessing a strong shift towards GSM based Data Cards as they registered 69% share of the market, said the report.
