Airtel is launching 4G services in Delhi and NCR this week

India’s leading private telecom operator Airtel is all set to launch 4G trials in the country’s capital city New Delhi and adjoining areas later this week. Airtel bought the spectrum from Qualcomm some time back. The 4G network is expected to go live in New Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) in a few days.

Delhi rejects Uber, Ola and TaxiForSure’s licence applications

Delhi Government Transport Department has rejected applications for licence from US-based cab aggregator Uber and Ola and TaxiForSure as the capital does not have a regulatory framework that recognises app-based cabs. The latest move comes from the authorities following fair warnings from part few months.

Delhi Govt. warns Uber, Ola against resuming operation, blocks mobile apps

The authorities of Delhi Government has warned online taxi service Uber and Ola on resuming operations. The Transport Department of Delhi Government has asked the services to cease their operations in Delhi or their application for radio-taxi licenses will not be processed.

Delhi Government bans Uber following rape allegations

The Delhi Government has banned Uber cabs in the city in the wake of the rape allegations. The cab driver has been arrested and the Government has banned “all activities” by Uber and even blacklisted the company.

Last night, news broke of a woman passenger allegedly raped by a Uber driver, in New Delhi. Hearing accounts of rape and violence against women is not new in this country, sadly, but what makes this even more shocking is the association with Uber, a disruptive mobile-first taxi platform that claims to have the “safest rides on the road“. According to the well-funded American startup’s website, safety is the second most important thing you need to know about them, right after the app, one of the most important user-facing features of their platform. For a company that prides itself on safety features, this is terrible news. Why and how did Uber let this happen? There are many answers to this question, but let’s give them a shot of reality first, with a warm message they can resonate with, “Welcome to India.”.

The website says that “the free inaugural service is available for a limited time and subsequently the service will be chargeable on a hourly basis.”.
