Aircel partners with D-Link to offer free 3G Data with select data cards and routers
Aircel has announced that they have partnered with D-Link, popular for its wireless networking device to offer 3G data benefits to its customers across India. This would let customers enjoy 1 GB of free 3G data per month for a period of 3 months for customers who activates Aircel 3G SIM on D-Link data card and DWM-156 and routers such as DWR-512 and DWR-730. Customers however need to make a recharge of Rs. 100 per month post activation to avail the benefits. Nexus Wireless Charger goes on sale in the US and Canada for $49.99
Google started selling the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) through their Play Store in India and Hong Kong few hours back. It has also started selling the Nexus Wireless Charger in the US and Canada. It is compatible with the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and the latest Nexus 7 tablet, since all these have Wireless charging based on Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) ’s Qi standard, the global standard for wireless power. MediaTek launches MT6592 True Octa-Core chip, offers speeds up to 2GHz
MediaTek has finally launched the MT6592, the company’s first True Octa-Core solution for smartphones and tablets. The chip was revealed back in July, now the company has detailed the complete specifications of the chip. MediaTek claims that this is world’s first true octa-core mobile platform that can utilize full capabilities of all eight cores in any combination, both for low-power and more demanding tasks. It also allows for all eight of its cores to run simultaneously. It uses Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) in CPU and each core can be clocked up to 2GHz.

Oppo hints at N1 coming soon to India, with customer support
The Oppo N1, a huge 5.9 inch device with a focus on the camera and some new innovation like a rear touch panel, was announced for the Chinese market a couple of months back. The device, at 3,468 Yuan = 570 USD = 35,700 INR is set for a global December availability. But even then, the sticking point for many, including users from India, has been the local availability and customer support. It looks like Oppo is planning to fix that because they have just hinted in their forums, regarding their Indian plans for availability and customer support. This is a big step for the Chinese company which has, so far, concentrated only on its home and US/European markets.

Google Nexus 5 now available for purchase on Play Store in India
Google has finally started selling the all new Nexus 5 on the Play Store in India after being listed as coming soon after the global announcement. The 16GB version is listed at Rs.28999 as hinted before and the 32GB version is listed at Rs.32999. Both the 16GB and 32GB models in both black and white colours are available for purchase. The Nexus 5 is already on sale at LG dealerships at select cities in India at a slightly higher price of Rs.29999 for the 16GB model and Rs.33999 for the 32GB model. Great to see LG and Google bringing a device to the Indian market within days or weeks of the US launch with some reasonable pricing too!

Google Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi and LTE variants go on sale in India on Play Store
After a very long wait, Google has finally started selling the 2013 edition Nexus 7 tablets in India. The tablets have been priced rather competitively and start at just Rs. 20,999 for the 16GB variant. The 32GB WiFi only model will be available for Rs. 23,999 while stepping up to the LTE variant will bump up costs to Rs. 27,999. Shipping estimates suggest that the tablet would leave the warehouse by 26th November and we’re expecting supplies to be a bit limited initially. Xbox One Smartglass apps for Windows Phone and Windows 8 released ahead of launch
The Xbox One is all set to release on November 22nd in 13 countries, and as a precursor, Microsoft has unveiled the new Xbox One Smartglass app for Windows Phone and Windows 8 devices. The Smartglass v2 is a massive improvement over the previous version that worked with the Xbox 360. It now talks directly to the console via WiFi Direct, whereas previously, it needed internet and your live ID to talk to the console and there was always a bit of lag sending over commands or executing actions. Now that the latency is massively reduced, the handshake and resuming of connections between the game and the Smartglass app should be very quick and seamless. In case you didn’t know, Smartglass is the definitive second screen screen experience for the Xbox, with keyboard input, touch control and second screen apps for games and videos taking center stage.

Moto X gets Android 4.4 KitKat on Verizon before Nexus 4 OTA
As if Moto G wasn’t enough of an indication that Google and its subsidiary Motorola are working closely, today the company announced that its Flagship product – Moto X will be getting an update to Android 4.4 KitKat. This is only for Verizon Wireless customers who have bought the Moto X, but it still is way ahead of the KitKat OTA update that has been evading the Nexus devices so far. The Moto X is a neat little device that runs on stock Android, with a couple of hardware related enhancements like the always listening Google Now and the fact that it is now getting all the Android 4.4 KitKat goodness is a nice gesture from Google/Motorola.

HTC One Max Benchmarks
HTC announced the One Max with a 5.9 inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display and a finger print sensor. We already brought you the unboxing of the device, here we have the benchmarks of the device. The phone is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7 GHz with Adreno 320 GPU similar to the HTC One. It runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with the new HTC Sense 5.5 UI. Shareholders approve sale of Device & Services division in Nokia – Microsoft deal
At the long awaited extraordinary meeting in Helsinki today, shareholders have approved the deal that will allow the sale of Nokia’s Devices and Services unit to Microsoft. The deal was met with near unanimous approval with close to 99.7 percent of holders agreeing with the sale.
