Following vivo, OPPO India is being investigated for accusation of tax evasion. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) looked into the mobile phone company OPPO India, a subsidiary company of “Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications Corporation Ltd” and found that it had avoided paying nearly Rs. 4,389 core taxes and duties. Mike Wang replaces Tom Lu as OPPO India CEO

OPPO, one of the popular Chinese smartphone makers today announced that it has appointed Mike Wang as its new CEO for India. He will replace Tom Lu, who was CEO since the company’s entry into India last year. He was key to the company’s expansion of their footprint in the Indian market, who now moves on to a bigger role globally, said OPPO. After Amazon, Oppo India partners with Flipkart to sell its smartphones online

Oppo India has entered into a partnership with Flipkart to sell its smartphones, including its flagship Oppo Find 7 smartphone. Oppo tied up with Amazon India last month to sell its smartphones online. The Oppo Find 7, its current flagship was launched in India back in June for Rs. 37,990 and it launched the N1 Mini smartphone recently. All its smartphones that has been launched in India are available on Flipkart starting today, August 26th.

Oppo to kickstart Indian operations on January 30th with the launch of N1

Oppo, the Chinese consumer electronics company, known for its popular smartphones like the Find 5 and the N1, has just sent out invites for an event where it will kickstart its Indian operations – Oppo Mobile India Private Limited, with the launch of its flagship device – the Oppo N1. While the invite doesn’t mention the launch of N1, FoneArena has confirmed that the company is indeed launching the device at the event. It is also really interesting to note that Oppo has courted Bollywood stars Hrithik Roshan and Sonam Kapoor for increasing brand awareness in the country. Almost all the mobile phone companies have courted stars from Bollywood and Cricket to promote their brands and Oppo is no exception.

The Oppo N1, a huge 5.9 inch device with a focus on the camera and some new innovation like a rear touch panel, was announced for the Chinese market a couple of months back. The device, at 3,468 Yuan = 570 USD = 35,700 INR is set for a global December availability. But even then, the sticking point for many, including users from India, has been the local availability and customer support. It looks like Oppo is planning to fix that because they have just hinted in their forums, regarding their Indian plans for availability and customer support. This is a big step for the Chinese company which has, so far, concentrated only on its home and US/European markets.
