BlackBerry showed off the BlackBerry Q10 alongside the first BlackBerry 10 device the Z10 during the BlackBerry 10 launch event back in January this year. The Q10 is already on sale in the UK where I got my hands on one. Now the 2nd BlackBerry 10 device is making its way to India. The company has sent to invites for a launch event in Delhi on June 6th and is expected to announce the Q10 for the Indian market.

Here is my first impressions of the just announced Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 which was announced yesterday in Chennai. We got some hands on time with the latest member of the Duos Dual SIM range from Samsung and the handset is also the smaller of the 2 Galaxy Mega devices announced. The phone is priced at Rs.25100 and packs a really large 5.8 inch display with a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels. It also packs 2 microSIM card slots with a Smart Dual SIM feature. There is 8GB of inbuilt memory on board and also room for expansion using the microSD card slot which supports cards upto 64GB.

We just got our hands on the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 and it is truly a mega phone with a massive 6.3 inch screen true to its name. The screen is a Super clear LCD with a 720p resolution and the phone is powered by a 1.7 GHz Dual core Snapdragon processor with 1.5GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt memory and also a microSD card slot which can take upto a 64GB microSD. The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 which is the latest version of Android with Samsung’s TouchWiz layer on top.

Samsung has launched the two new Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 devices here at a launch event in Chennai. The two devices are expected to serve the purpose of the burgeoning “big screen devices” market which Samsung itself contributed in creating it with the original Galaxy Note. These “Mega” devices are true to their name and they are indeed huge. There is a lot of negativity surrounding the Taiwanese phone maker HTC recently due to some high profile departures from the company including Chief Product Officer Kouji Kodera and Asia CEO Lennard Hoornik. But the company has managed to sell 5 million units of the its flagship HTC One smartphone since launch according to a report by the WSJ. HTC’s main Android rival Samsung just announced today that it had sold over 10 million units of the Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone in record time. The HTC One hit many markets before the Galaxy S4 but HTC is still struggling with the global roll out. India was supposed to get the phone in end of April but it is finally going on sale only this month end. HTC was also involved in some legal trouble with respect to the HDR microphone on the device. I am here in London , United Kingdom for the Nokia Lumia event where the handset maker announced the latest addition to its Lumia line up of Windows Phones. I got some hands on time with Lumia 925 and here are my first impressions. The Lumia 925 might be the best Windows Phone device to be announced till now. It is also one of the most well made phones we have had a chance to play with in the recent times like the HTC One or iPhone 5. Nokia decided to use an aluminum frame for the 925 and the phone has a premium feel to it because of this. The back is not made of metal but uses plastic, polycarbonate material. The main highlight of the Lumia 925 is the Camera with supposedly best-in class low light camera performance. Watch the hands-on video below

You might be aware that Nokia is hosting an event in London this week on May 14 where the Finnish handset market is expected to announce a new Lumia phone. We have been hearing a lot of rumours about the phone code-named “Catwalk” in the last few weeks. Nokia might finally make this phone official and call it the Lumia 925. The company has been teasing the new phone in a commercial aired on British television earlier today. The phone in the video looks a lot like the one spotted in the Catwalk leaks. This device certainly must pack some impressive camera features as Nokia decided to use the words “more than your eyes can see” in the teaser. I am right now sitting at an Airport in Chennai waiting to board my flight to London to cover the Nokia event.

It has been while since Nokia has held any major press event in India especially an international press event which it is holding in New Delhi tomorrow May 9th. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop is expected to unveil new products at the event. The invite says “Time to Shift Gears” and does not mention anything else. Considering this event is taking place in India , it would be safe to assume that we could either see a low-end Lumia device or new member of the Asha family being announced. In fact Elop has confirmed that Nokia would launch new Asha devices at the company’s annual general meeting held recently. So new Asha phones are surely coming. The HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 are 2 high-end smartphones with some very impressive specs.The HTC One has a very premium feel to it and is made of metal and packs a 4.7 inch Super LCD 1080p HD display. The Galaxy S4 on the other hand is fully made of plastic and is extremely thin and light and packs a 5 inch SuperAMOLED 1080p HD display. Both phones are priced relatively the same worldwide. Jonathan Rubinstein more popularly known as Jon Rubinstein is a pretty famous name in the tech industry and famous for heading the iPod project at Apple. He later left Apple to join Palm and was later appointed as CEO. He subsequently joined HP after HP’s much criticized acquisition of Palm. Rubinstein was the person behind webOS which ran on handsets like the Palm Pre and HP Veer and even the TouchPad tablet. He quit HP in January 2012.
