HTC earlier this week started rolling out a new update (v1.26.709.3) for its flagship U11 smartphone in Taiwan that brings support for 1080p 60fps video recording as it had promised a few days back. The company already said that it will roll out the feature widely in coming months. The update also brought July 2017 Android security update along with other system enhancements. Android Nougat adoption hits 13.5%, up 2% since last month

Google has released Android distribution numbers for the month of August. Android Nougat adoption has increased to 13.5%, up 2% over last month. Nougat 7.0 was up 1.7% to 12.3% while, Nougat 7.1 increased to 1.2% from .9%.  It is possible that before next month’s distribution, we will already see the arrival of Android O. SHARP today announced AQUOS S2, its latest smartphone at an event in China, as it had promised. 5.5-inch (1080 x 2040 pixels) Full HD+ display with 84.95% screen-to-body ratio. It uses FFD (Free Form Display) technology to make small holes precisely in the screen for front camera and receiver. The fingerprint sensor that is present below the screen is just 3.6mm, making it the world’s narrowest fingerprint identification module. RED announced the HYDROGEN ONE Android smartphone with holographic display last month. The company did not show how it would look like. Now popular Youtuber Marques Brownlee has teased prototype of the phone on his channel to show how the phone will look like. He said he saw three different prototypes – a non-working unit with the final design and dimensions, one that shows the holographic display in action, and a third is a separate camera module with its own lens and sensor.

Apple requests tax breaks for suppliers in India to make iPhones

Apple has asked the Indian government to extend tax breaks to its suppliers if India to start making phones in India instead of simply assembling them. Government officials told Reuters that meeting this request would mean India would have to formulate a new policy that applies fairly to all device makers.
